The Shulgins are very aware both politically and chemically. In this video Shulgin complains about civil asset forfeiture abuse. Recently this issues has received media attention from a lot of places. Shulgin warned about this issue 30 years ago. Sadly Americans didn't want to resolve these issues.

Historically some psychedelic users have a more sophisticated awareness of these issues than average citizens. More people should know about this.
