Salvia + Video Camera

I've noticed a trend where people just HAVE to record their friends tripping on salvia. If you've ever been in this situation, has the video camera affected your trip at all? The first time I "took off" on salvia I realized that the camera was there and started to really get mad/confused/badfeeling. It wasn't a big deal but I still wasn't too happy about it.

Cameras keep me happy for some reason.. It's like I know someone's right there or something. I'm not sure, I can't get anything deep out of it though.
I think the trend is that people have fun watching their friends get fucked up, and want to spread the laughter.

This is gonna sound really delusional and far out, but I have this theory, that the purpose for saliva existing is so that a person can experience salvia first-hand, and then watch how it affects other people without realizing they are learning subconsciously about humans. Honestly, there's no psychedelic that has been that widespread among different kinds of people, subgroups, socioeconomic statuses, etc., and is that well documented due to legality and random trends.....maybe...

But of course its good for self-exploration or recreation and whatnot too. Just a funny thought....

I think I agree with your thoughts. Personally, one of the main reasons why I try drugs is to further understand the human mind, and it's interesting seeing how each drug affects people, whether it be as simple as weed or some stronger drug.

Perhaps. It's hard to tell. Also, I haven't really had the experience because it never affected me as strongly as all others. I'll have to try it again.

Once, a dang phone camera completely absorbed the experience, and I ended up looking at myself taking a picture of myself in a mirror from the perspective of the camera lens and mirrored glass simultaneously. Pretty weird stuff.

As someone who respects Salvia a LOT for the kind of wisdom it imparts, the introduction of a video camera in a Salvia experience is a strange and uncomfortable thought. First of all, Salvia by itself can be game-showy to begin with. The user becomes aware of the arbitrary parts of his reality, the showiness, phoniness. To have a video camera present might encourage this kind of insight, but I imagine it would also be creepy.

I treat the time and space surrounding a Salvia experience with respect, calm, and an eye for safety. I would never condone a videotaping of a session, unless I really knew what I was doing and it was for insight purposes.

Funny, actually my last Salvia trip I meant to listen to some drumming I did on a field recorder, but ended up accidentally recording myself for a minute or two. Nothing crazy happened, but still interesting.

As a side note, I look forward to smoking Salvia and listening to real-time white noise/static.

ParappaTheRapper, I think you're right, but there are so many other "purposes" of Salvia. It is a great learning experience, and I think you are touching on one of many valuable insights from Salvia. Make sure to question yourself whenever you grab hold of "the one" reason or mode of action of Salvia. I can't really explain what it does, but I think it's probably more far-reaching than learning about human behavior, especially through the modes of watching other people experience it. One can do Salvia totally isolated from people and videos and still learn a lot.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely agree with you. I was just pointing out an observation of a less mentioned possibility I've noticed. There are certainly many psychedelic possibilities to the experience. I'd have to say a major one for me is the concept of gravity and inverse space.

*Edit
I would also add that doing salvia in isolation and learning from it would only reinforce my observation. Experiencing something by having no one else's reality to compare it to. Or what lead you to have the experience in isolation to begin with vs. in a group. Again, I prefer meditation during tripping, but its just a thought.
