[This survey is not specifically endorsed nor monitored by Bluelight / PD, yet it is given the go ahead under my supervision - Solipsis]

Hello Bluelight PD!

This is my first post here at BlueLight! I have lurked for a long time. I have finally signed up to ask your help in filling out a BRIEF survey I have created for a class.

I am doing a presentation in a neuroscience class im taking called "Drugs and Society". The midterm assignment is to study a certain entheogen and prepare a presentation to the class about it.

I am doing my presentation on Salvia and am looking for as many respondents to my survey as possible. Please! Take one or two short minutes to fill out this simple survey.

• I will share the results with you
• Its very short, only eight questions long

Thank you for your time in advance!

Everlasting peace and love!

did it.

Seriously though, why salvia?

I hardly consider salvia to be an entheogen, its an atypical psychedelic that generally produces pretty bizarre hallucinations that for most are so strange, nothing or little is taken from them.

Its all relative! Many people have mind expanding sessions, while other simply get pins and needles and a head rush. Some simply cannot trip, no matter how hard they rip the bong, while others experience rebirth.

Hopefully this survey will be able to tell us more about Salvia's variable effects. Thank you for participating!

Im amazed that responses are already flooding in. Thank you to all who are participating! The more responses, the more valid this survey will be.

Peace and love!

meh, you have seen my response...

I decided to never touch it again after i stepped into a camp fire while experiencing my own death and judgment in talk show format.....

It wasn't so much the "oh im dead" that scared me, it was the sheer realization that i could have actually died or suffered horrific burns from that incident.... I did get 3 small 2nd degree burns from stepping into it bare foot....

I would do salvia again if it was more like DMT in that most participants do not get up and move around. Getting shot out of a cannon into the nothingness, not a problem..... Physically walking into a camp fire in the middle of that, its a problem....

Give me a padded room and i might consider doing it again...

Might be worth pointing out that this survey is only for people that have used salvia. There is no option for not having used it.

Did it, and I agree with the above. I was in a depression before salvia (lacking apprecation of your life, ie being ungreatful, which i think has a lot to do with the perspective of depression). I had the craziest trip of my life that made me happy I was living and alive and not in this other "Real reality." I was traumatized for a couple weeks though...

(first time, full packed bowl and full smoke bong. Held forever)

it also made me respect drugs more.

the salvia experience is definitely one of those undefinable things. all my going to say is that 6 of us did it last time, 2 had terrifying experiences, 2 had wonderland experiences one of them apparently lifechanging, 1 had a whacky experience that he was unsure of being positive or negative and 1 didnt trip at all.

same size hits, same bong, same room, same chair, similar music. go figure.

Done. Did you intend that users of cannabinoids other than cannabis answer your cannabis-use question as if they were using cannabis, or not? I answered 'daily' because I use cannabis and synthetic cannabinoids interchangeably. Depending on which I have at any given time, I will use that one daily. So long as my CB receptors are getting tickled on a regular basis.

ETA: Incidentally, my salvia use has almost always coincided with periods where I had no cannabis/cannabinoids available.

The results that have come in so far are very interesting.

Please, those who have not taken this short survey, do so! I hope to "Publish" a detailed report on this on BL PD!

On a methodological point, may I suggest not disclosing partial results to participants? If people take the survey already knowing what the typical answers given by previous participants are, it might influence their choices. :) I'll be interested to read about your results when the survey's completed. Do you plan to analyze associations among the survey questions?

I've used salvia 7 times. It is pretty intense, but it's quickly done with and is really not alot of fun. I've also tried using it for meditation (in the dark, eyes closed) and i think it is alot better used this way. The CEVs were alot better than the confusing, patterned OEVs.

my .02$

Two problems i have with this survey are:

- Some options you give for multiple choice are a little specific and therefore seem biased, apparently from your selective experience of salvia itself or what you read about others experiences... though i understand some of them are indeed common
- You got the entity / deity option twice, I wonder what the difference is - maybe though its just the feeling that you sometimes feel like an entity is more archetypically godlike than other times. but still.

other than that, I want people to ask first before posting stuff like this. Do note that you broke the rules :\ For now its ok.. how long until you close the survey by the way? If these survey start popping up left and right now.... thats not what PD needs to turn into.

done !

I'm always pleased to see someone interested about salvia divinorum, my entheogen/psychedlic of choice !

Good luck for your presentation :)

This is quite an informal survey, I'm well aware that it certainly does not follow standard procedure when it comes to scientific research methods.

I have done Salvia, twice. First time I forgot I took it and was convinced I was crazy. Additionally, time expanded and it felt like the experience lasted far far longer than it did. It felt like I had gone crazy and I wasnt coming back.

Everything was twisting and sort of tessellating, and the tessellations and sounds would repeat forever and ever.

I was watching Bill Nye the other day on "Patters" and there is a point where he says "it repeats!" and its edited so "it repeats" repeats about ten times. Strange thing is, the repeating sight of Bill Nye and sound semi-sent me back into the Salvia trip, making me feel slightly giddy and confused and VERY uneasy. It was a sort of mini flashback, which I didnt know Salvia could do.

Weird stuff

My apologies :o What exactly in the posting rules prohibits survey taking?

Im more than a little embarrassed. I appreciate you letting this thread stay open.

^ This very subject (not your survey in particular but unofficial surveys in general) has been discussed very recently amongst staff. I don't recall offhand if it's specifically prohibited in the BLUA but they've generally not been allowed for as long as I've been around and probably before that too. Seems that staff have decided to leave it to the mods of each forum here to decide on rather than a blanket ban across the whole site.

Broadly speaking we don't want to be clogged up by personal surveys unless they come under the Drug Studies forum remit which is fairly strict and rigorous - properly backed/funded scientific-type surveys only, I believe. The way I see it is that it's kinda like allowing any member to make a poll for their questions - would just clog the place up if everyone who wanted to do it could without checking with mods first. That's only my interpretation and opinion though - not necessarily the precise BL policy cos, as with many BL rules, it's mostly left to mods to decide on.
