Have been looking into purchasing one of these but after searching google for hours, cant seem to find a uk supplier, can anyone point me in the right direction?

cheers :)

Jesus christ dude, googling for hours? I found it with one search, first hit. :\

We don't allow any vendor discussion, but I can give you a piece of basic
general botanical information: you can plant a seed or cut off a part and
make that part into a whole new plant, thats called a cutting. Cutting.

Actually salvia is a plant that is hard to propagate with seed(ling)s,
cuttings are the way to go.

ahh right no worries,

all the ones I have found have been out of stock,

wee quick question is the Wasson & Hoffman strain the one Im after?

cheers

yes, there are possibly two different strains but nobody is quite sure if there are any true differences between them.

All salvia plants are clones of the same Wasson-collected specimen.

no worries, thanks for the help, think I have eventually found a smallish plant for a reasonable price in uk.

any special tips for a 1st time grower? will be growing indoors, do they need any special lighting or conditions? read somewhere that you need to make them a little humidity tent.

thanks

like any herb, it will be happiest in full sunlight but you should be concerned about fragility right after shipping. give it one hour of window-sunlight per day for a couple days, then increase to two hours, etc until you have it sitting in the sunniest window of your home.

do not over-water.

after the plant looks like it has acclimated to your environment, you should think about up-potting to a larger container so the roots have room to grow.

start reading basic gardening and houseplant care books, and remember that this plant came from a semi-dry warm area of the world so it should not be treated like a tropical plant, fruit tree, or vegetable. Sage plants in general are very hardy and will slowly grow for years with very basic maintenance.

just bought 2 cuttings, each from different sellers, will see how I get on with them when I receive them, knowing my luck they will be dead within the week :(

Ive grown and shipped salvia for years, one piece of advice is to make sure you buy from someone within your continental country, salvia will not survive more then 3 days in transit, and will def not survive shipment over borders and make sure you use a reliable vendor. cuttings should be at least 5inches with 3+ leaf sets before shipping.

Saludos y suerte.:D

If your luck DOES run out, you can always just buy 1 oz of dried leaves for ~$15 and extract yourself.

I grew some from seeds once, and was astounded to go out and check on them in their little pot... they had sprung up from little dots to plants with little leaves about 3-4 inches tall, but... my jaw hit the ground upon seeing THEY WERE SURROUNDED BY A RING of tiny delicate 3/4 inch tall MUSHROOMS I had not planted! Whoa! Amazing and mind-boggling! The fungi-gods LIKE the salvia plant, apparently! I swear, cross my heart and hope to die, this is 100% true!
