I have done lsd and shrooms, so I figured that a little bit of salvia was no big deal. I figured that I would easily be able to get my set and setting correct, so that I could make the experience pleasurable. I was so wrong. This, as of now, has been my only "bad" trip. I use the word bad in quotes because I have not been scared from using salvia; I simply view this as a learning experience. I also hesitate to call it a trip, as I only remember about 30 seconds of it, total. Anyways, enough stalling. Onto the story.
I decided to try 10x salvia extract at about 2:00 pm today. Stopping by the smoke shop after class, I bought a 1 gram sealed bag. On the way home, butterflies started to form in my stomach. I was looking forward to this experience. When I got home, I relaxed for a few minutes and ate a little something. Then I started to prepare. In my computer room, with the door closed so that my dog didn't bother me, I played some soothing music on low volume as background noise. I then packed a small bowl in my bong. Sitting in what I like to call my couch potato chair (It is one of those chairs shaped like a bowl, that are kind of hard to get out of. I figured that it might keep me in place while I tripped.), I took a big rip from the bong. It tasted like sin. As I counted to 30, I put my bong away so that I didn't knock it over. I then sat down. By the time I got to 15, I already felt like I was being pulled into the chair. When I got to 22, I felt like I was passing out, so I exhaled. I then closed my eyes...
The next thing I knew, I heard things. I couldn't tell what they were, just that they sounded odd. I could tell that I was in the same chair that I started off in, so I decided it was safe to open my eyes. What I saw then scared the shit out of me. I saw childhood toys all reaching down from my shelves trying to grab me (The closest I can come to describing the scene is to say that it was like something out of the movie Labyrinth. If anyone has seen that movie, they might understand what I experienced). I scrambled out of the chair as fast as I could, and ran to the door, and saw my dog standing in the middle of it. "Go Amber! It isn't safe here!" I yelled at her. She quickly ran off. I proceeded to run down my hallway. About halfway to my kitchen, I remember that I had just taken a drug, and turned around to reassess the situation. Nothing was chasing me, and I didn't hear anything off, so I walked back towards my room. As I entered and looked around, I saw nothing. Everything was where it was supposed to be. What a crazy experience! At this point, I was pretty sure that the trip was over.
I walked out to the kitchen to get a drink of water, and what I saw surprised me. My backyard door was wide open. Huh, thinking back, when I jumped out of the chair to run away, my computer room door was open too, yet I clearly remember closing it. The only explanation that I have for this is that I must have done something after I passed out, and before I woke up to freaky toy monsters. All in all, it was scary. Even as I am typing this, I am still shaking from adrenaline. I am still going to try salvia again. Just because I scared myself shitless once, doesn't mean that it will happen the next time.
