I'll never trust that evil Ronald MacDonald. He looks so damn sinister. That smile never leaves his face. Why? Because he's raking in the $$$ by selling fatty foods. Now he's come for the only market that he's not yet tainted with his deep fryer.. the vegetarians and the health-concious.

I reckon that sure the new "healthy" things might be lower in fat but they are probably still full of sugar. Real healthy food does not taste that great so they need to spice it up so that people will want to eat it.. :) And people will think they can eat as much as they want because its low fat and not realizing that it's still full of empty calories and sugar.

Selling fruit there is really good but who the hell goes to MacDonalds and wants to get an apple when they can smell delicious, fatty snacks cooking away? Why get the apple when you can get a deep fried apple pie for only a bit more? Hmm? It's got apple in it too! The way I see it, people go to MacDonalds to avoid eating healthy.

They are probably just trying to prevent future lawsuits as well. Recently in the States a group of obese teens filed a class action law suit against MacDonalds for making them fat. The case was thrown out on the basis that they had a choise to eat fatty foods or go somewhere else. They are suing again though alleging that McDonald's "engaged in deceptive advertising, in part because it failed to adequately disclose additives and processing methods that make its food less healthful."

Nice try MacDonalds but I see through your evil plans! :p

I concur... No matter how much McDonalds tries to sell this new healthiness campaign the environment will always disagree that McFuckwitexploiteverybodycorporation is healthy...

Boycott McDonalds and stop wearing Nike too :)

i just tried the garden salad tonight, it was beautiful. it was good cos i was talkin to a mate who works there and she said that they cut up the vegies and shit and actually pack the salads before they open that day. so the salads dont come pre packed. it was really nice.... but $5.45 was a bit pricey....

I tried the vegie burger today.. quizzed the girl about their cooking methods and she straight away said it was cooked on a separate grill to all the meat.. so in reality it *actually* is a vegetarian burger. I found that impressive in itself really.

The verdict: I really quite liked it. Definately a burger with a lot more substance than the others.. didnt leave me feeling empty and unsatisfied 30mins later.

I dont play into the anti-corporation stuff.. but I'm always happy to see them make an effort in the right direction.

stace.

Yeah the fries are still cooked in animal though negating the ability to get a meal...

Petty whingeing, I know...

tried the vegie burger today...
it sux.

you're not anti corporatisation if you boycott maccas and nike.

you're anti corporatisation if you boycott maccas, KFC, burger king, taco bell, boston market, nike, reebok, adidas, puma etc etc....and every clothing label that has things made in asian sweathouse factories where the workers get paid next to nothing. which basically means the majority of the clothes we wear.

the thing that really makes me laugh is that the anti corporatisation people use microsoft products to access the internet to find out information and spread their message. yet microsoft are one of the largest worldwide monopolising corporations out there.

it's near impossible to be anti corporatisation living in a western culture like ours.

I don't have any problem with people who try as much as they can to be anti corporate and do things like boycott maccas and nike.....however it seems that it's just 'cool' to boycott those two companies without thinking any futher about all the things we buy and consume and where they come from.

^^^^^
Whord! :)

Most people can't be bothered taking a real interest in what they're protesting, so they just go along with the people with the loud voices and the megaphones and make a day of it. Fighting against "the man" is fun - it's sorta like a movie that you get to be in...

or perhaps we just have to pick our battles. in our western society you're right, it *is* almost impossible to boycott everything. but i do my best. i read widely on the subject, and try to help out with stuff as much as possible. i try not to consume anything which i'm aware to be produced by one of those companies, but it's difficult. i don't go telling everyone i boycott maccas because i want them to think i'm cool, i do it because i'm sick of companies like them exploiting people. maybe you should have a look at yourself miss apple?

Exactly onetwothreefour :) Why does it have to be all or nothing anyway... i personally stay away from all fast food large corps. however i'd be happier if, let's say I boycotted macas and still ate at subway because it's not as bad (best of the worst :D). While living in a western world it's nearly impossible to boycott all the things you'd hate because a lot of these companies do a good job hiding shit from you (ie what they put into their products, or the wages they pay their staff). Oh yeah and miss apple, i burnt my copy of microsoft office :P

peace

In what way 1234? I didn't say anything in my post about what beliefs I have on the topic. I'm not planning to either. Just giving my opinion on the debate itself.
