Weed actually inhibits GABA doesn't it? So it would be a kind of "reverser" (wrong word but can't think of the one I want).

to OP suicide is a permanent act to most of the time a temporary problem.

There are times when most have a time when they think like you do for one reason, circumstance or another, sounds like you gotta be totally honest with your therapist and not afraid of there critism or what they think of you, as ultimately its you with the problem and if your skirting round about what they may think, you won't get to the bottom of what you are thinking and feeling to help you through this suffering your obviously going through.

The way to get most out of therapy is to be robust honest without fear to work through things. Good luck start using the resources given to you to help yourself.

The more people who use this, now converted, cliche term the less potent it has become. Personal emotional pain is not always temporary. Personal agony and loathing is not always temporary.

Well I've been using this cliche term for over a year now, and the advice I offered is sound and constructive as I have been through years of personal emotional pain which I worked through in therapy by being robust honest without fear, used to have a habit of self harm neglect and alcoholism to deal with problems but found another way out, which I used in my post.

Also personal loathing and agony is as permanent or temporary to the individual
Until that person is sick of being sick, and has an oppurtunity to change direction, I fell I have the right to say that as me still breathing is testament that negative suicidal ideation and personal pain can be Overcome therefore for my individual case and to many others cases that have come
Out the otherside of similar situations can surely say that there glad the permanent act wasn't seen through because Infact it was a temporary problem.

And I suppose using a cliche does lose its potentantness but so does, look both ways when you cross the road, but people do still look both ways, so if a cliche has a ring of truth, why not use it?.

But glad on this subject I'm not just a bystander, I've lived it and am talking sense offering something, which is better than offering nothing at all.

It is almost impossible to die from Xanax alone. You could have eaten 570 pills and you might be in a coma for a bit but you're almost gauranteed to wake up if you don't mix it with other respiratory depressant drugs.

This is an old thread, but what are some other "respiratory depressant drugs"? I know I should be educated on this, and should probably use the search forum, but TBH I'm ALL out of sorts ATM and would rather just converse :)

I have a bad history of mixing drugs w/o considering their interactions. In the thread respecting those who've "moved on", I saw a lot of ODs on Xanax + Methadone, which I took FREELY and in LARGE QUANTITIES a few weeks ago.

And my own mother died from xanax/vicodin/codeine.
... That is, according to hear-say from the Toxicology report. Is there any way anyone knows how I can get my deceased mom's toxicology report & past medical history?

Respiratory depressants include benzos, opiates, alcohol, barbiturates, sedatives.
 
I had no idea the LD50 of alprazolam was so high. For someone without a significant tolerance, how many mg must be taken before a complete blackout is likely?

OP: Glad you're OK. Don't try that again though. Life is too precious a thing to throw away like that.

I hope this post makes sense; I'm coming up on four hits of good blotter and I'm already tripping pretty hard.

I would say with no tolerance, you are likely to blackout at like 4-5mg. It obviously depends on the person. If you are combining it with alcohol, the dose is much lower.
 
Most xanax I've ever taken is .75mg with a few beers. I don't remember the entire night.

I can't imagine taking 100x that amount.
 
heh some of you guys are insane. For me a 2mg bar always does the job to get me fucked up, but i usually drink with it and smoke a ton of weed as it makes it feel more potent and makes me feel more sedated : P

as prev said. the ld50 for most benzos alone is very high. there is always the risk of respiratory depression causing death. also the other dangers with being unconscious - lack of gag reflex.


now people might think that because of all this, its safe to take very high amounts of benzos. be aware that once blacked out, many other things could seem like a good decision. i.e. mixing other depressants meaning synergised respiratory depression etc.

harm reduction - dont overcook your drug intake. even if it 'seems' safe.
