Ok, so i have a few bad injuries and i would like to know all of your opinions as to which pain medication(s) are safe and effective for medium level pain management, long term usage. My Dr. says that paracetamol would be and when it get's worse paracetamol with codeine is ok. Well paracetamol does NOTHING, with even some codeine it helps, some. I have access to pretty much everything and i do not want to start using something very strong that i would get hooked on, also safety is pretty important to me.

Here is the list of my current medications (per day):

Atenolol 12,5 - 25 mg
Xanax 2-4 mg
Citalopram 20 mg
Salbutamol/Albuterol inhalation as needed (rarely)
pseudoepherine-dibhenhydramine 60/8 mg (almost daily)
Temazepam 20-40 mg (almost daily)

PS. I'm sure i forgot something, if i did i'll edit... Also thank you all in advance!

how long have you been on your other drugs... because.... by the looks of some of your doses (xanax, citalopram, temazepam...basically everything) you are already hooked

tramadol mixed with alprazolam/xanax or carisoprodol/soma and you wouldn't have to worry much about withdrawals or psychological dependance

I don't know why people say you can't get hooked on tramadol. whether it's an opiate or not, that shit has opiate like effects and can just as easily produce psychological dependence. however it's still your best bet for medium level pain, the withdrawl will be manageable and you shouldn't have to struggle with full on opiate addiction as long as you stick to your doctors recommended dosages.

Yeah, tramadol is like the most addictive drug i've ever taken. I'd say codeine is the best pain med. I've been given 100 straight 30 mg codeine tabs before & i could easily take it or leave it. Also the withdrawals are without doubt the least troublesome of any opiate i've ever taken.

Go with codeine would be my advice.

It's great for pain, though. I'm a CYP2D6 rapid metabolizer, so hydrocodone only gives me about 3 hours of pain relief, sometimes less. Tramadol keeps me high (my cyp2d6 enzymes) and pain free for almost the whole day. If codeine works well for you, then tramadol will as well, due to the enzymes.

Ime, Codeine doesnt last long for pain relief. Morphine last a long time for pain relief. Tramadol actually lasts longer than Codeine. Hydrocodone lasts a bit longer than codeine ime.

8+ Years, i know i'm "hooked" and i don't care, i don't get "high" from them, i'm a big guy with high tolerance to benzos and i have absolutely zero aspirations to ever come off them. I use the dosages given to me by my doctor. All i need now is some pain relief. Tramadol is a good medication and i have used it, but i can't use it now with citalopram for the fear of serotonin syndrome. I'll try soma or stick with codeine.
