Safely obtaining drugs in a dangerous area

^^^^yeah good thing i dont need to use those spots anymore. Although that one spot they mentioned suprised me. Well it did and it didnt. I had friends who lived on that block, and i knew there was dealing going on, i just didnt understand it compared to north philly.

FYI I never copped at the corner i mentioned and dont intend to. I dont think i am breaking the rules by simply quoting an article anybody can read for themselves, but delete this post if you think swarms of 15 year olds are gonna flock

I can't believe they actually printed this story, and were so specific. Knowing Philadelphia very well myself, i can say as someone that has copped at probably 7 out of the 10 on the list, that it's very accurate.

Yeah. It is very accurate. I could back that up from experience as well. Anyway, I saw this when when it first came out, and decided against posting it. It's providing a source, regardless of where it comes from. If BL members aren't allowed to discuss and mention specific corners themselves, getting around that by posting news articles about it should not be allowed as well. It's nothing personal, I just don't think Philly needs a drug tourist map posted on BL.

That's the problem with the article. I understand what they think they are doing, but these spots are going to be swarmed with suburban high-school and college kids looking to cop. That could get ugly real quick. The corners in this article are going to be swarming with stick up kids looking for easy targets.

And Garuda, I hear what you're saying and I'm sure these spots will get real hot real quick, but its not like the police don't know about them. It's no secret to anyone. There's just not much they can do about it. I'm sure that if it does get hot, the heat will die down as quickly as it starts. I mean, it will probably never be the way it was 10 years ago as far as stop-and-cop open air drug sales, but it's obvious that drugs and drug dealers in these areas aren't going anywhere.

Yeah I agree talk of this should be kept to a minimum, although i think it is funny that the "copping drugs in a dangerous area" thread turned into "where to cop in philly" --well not exactly but you all know what i mean. Lets try to get back on topic before someone says something they shouldnt

Exactly, I don't know what they tried to accomplish by publishing that. The cops know the spots, as the article even says, the list was compiled from crime data. So it's not like they published something unknown to LE or anyone that's ever copped drugs in Philly. Cops are doing what they can about it, but it's completely unrealistic that open air dealing will go away. It's been like that for decades, and cops have tried just about everything already, i.e. safe streets. So, the only reason I could think that they published that is to increase their paper distribution, even though its a free fucking paper.

Oh I know these corners are well known to law enforcement, but the attention this article has drawn will lead to a harsh application of heat that will quickly cool, just political grandstanding. About all it will accomplish is getting a lot of inexperienced kids arrested, ripped off, or OD'd.

Hey look on the bright side, maybe the mayor's or police cheif's rebelling offspring will be accidentally arrested :D.

incredible thread! props to euphoricnod!

i know way too many people that have went to dangerous places and have gotten robbed blind. this should help alot of people going to cop.

^If you take simple precautions your chances really do go way down smurfy lee.

I have some stuff I can add...

Don't go at night, I almost got car jacked because I was fiending and decided to go real late one time.

It DEFINITELY is best to find someone and stick with them, going to the same spots over and over allows you to get better deals with the dealer, and you usually know the quality you're getting (but it's never a definite).

Try not to go alone, infact I never have went alone, but I've still had some unpleasent experiences.

I've had a friend whose gotten jumped, robbed, attempted car jacked, all of this most of them a few times, and it's mostly because he didn't follow some basic logic of copping. Use your head, if something doesn't feel right, well it shouldn't, you're in the ghetto getting drugs, what should feel right about that? Yes over time it becomes almost routine, but in the end, you're in just as much danger as you were the first time you came down.

The big thing I learned early in my street copping career was to be prepared to abort the mission if something goes wrong or just doesn't feel right. No matter how desperate or sick you are it's always better to walk away if something isn't right. It's easier said than done when desperation hits.

I always found the best time to cop on the street was around 9:00 in the morning. There's usually more activity and everyone is too busy to notice what you're doing. The stick up kids and burn artists are usually not out until later. Another good time is mid-day(lunch hour) or during afternoon rush hour, for the same reasons as 9am. Going at night, especially after midnight, increases your chances of getting burned 10 fold.

^ I've noticed that too actually. I've never copped myself, but I've gone with someone dozens of times while he does it, I'm always the person waiting in the car to make sure we dont get jacked or something. But anywhere from like 9 a.m. to about 12 noon always seem to go the smoothest and the fastest.

I just had a conversation with someone about the best time to cop, and from experience I completely agree with you about the times. It's best to go in the morning, between 9 and 12. That's typically when more of the "hardcore" users and regular dealers are out. I mean, if there's anyone out there that's less likely to get burned and know what they're doing, it's the junkies that buy and use every day.

Avoid going at night and in the evening, especially on busy days like Fridays and Saturdays. Evenings and weekends are times when most of the regular neighborhood people are home and outside, and it's also the time when most out of towners go to buy. Try to fit in with the regular users as much as possible.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this already so...

-If you're driving, make sure all of your papers and your vehicle is in order. Avoid loud music and extremely dark tint. It'll just draw attention to you. Also, make sure your headlights, tail lights, and mirrors are all in check. And, don't break any traffic laws.

Yeah - OK, I need to give this a try in terms of trying AM. So far I've gone to the hood a few times between 10 PM and midnight. Been lucky one time out of 3. I normally drive up and down a few streets a few times and then leave. Normally look for guys walking alone who wave at me ... never approach groups.

Nighttime is BAD I doubt if Ive ever gone and actually gotten out of the car at night. Dealers usually have very specific operating hours. Around here its 7AM-7PM and its run by a gang so its fairly consistant.

Thats all the hard stuff to worry about before you even find the spot. Once you know where/who to go, there are still a whole bunch of things to worry about.

The whole being the only white person in the area (besides the other people coping) is a big problem. i found this out 3 or 4 times, getting pulled over in terrible neighborhoods. The cops knew why i was there, they probably just busted someone exactly like me in the past few hours/days. They see people coming and going from the same houses week after week. So i was always straight forward with them. Because i never had anything illegal in my car I never got arrested. They basically said "another stupid kid, listen buy your drugs in the suburbs...don't let me catch you down here again." BTW the guy who told me "don't come down here again" pulled me over 3 times, and the last time i saw him he just drove by and said "hey buddy, long time no see."

You might think they're assholes, but city cops (at least city cops around here) are pretty cool. They're sick of dealing with all the trash and real criminals, and once they found out i was a semi-decent human being the worst i got was a traffic ticket.

to clarify city cops can suck alot, but in my experience they're way cooler than suburban cops. And i was copping at least 1 or 2 time s day

Ok - an update - I reported about a month ago that I drove into the hood in my city and lucked out and got some good stuff. Well, my last two times I got ripped off .... so that's it - no more driving around the hood randomly to get stuff ... I'll just do without until I find a reliable trusted source. It's too much hassle and also a loss of $ getting ripped off.

what would be the point of buying anything less than a G, really? even those that have only done it a few times would want around that much i would think.

My H dealer does that. You get a balloon or 2 of H and a balloon of coke*5$* which gets you 1 or 2 decent lines

This thread is downright awsome. Well I'm from vegas and there aren't that many projects in this town. They usually get torn down for new developement. I've copped from the closest thing to a project though...the freemont street experience. It's in downtown north las vegas *less than 3minutes crawling distance from Regular Las vegas* All I could get down there was crack. I was lucky enough to find a decent guy. I knew he wasnt a cop because he had gold teeth, he ended up telling me where the undercovers deal at and what not.

The only other time I've copped from a ghetto was with my friend adam who was a complete and utter fucking retard. Speed was our drug and every time we found a dealer this idiot would make up a reason not to go through him, even if the dealer never ripped us off. I guess you could blame it on his ADD but it was annoying as fuck and I wasted a lot of time and gas trying to find someone to cop from instead of calling a dealer

Anyway back to the point, I broke all of the OP's rules of engagement and of course it went bad. Budget suites, we wait for someone who looks like they do drugs to walk by. We find a women who later Identifies herself as a hooker. I LET HER IN MY CAR *gross* she took us to a bar for 20$ so she could send some guy out to take us to his dealer. This guy takes us to his dealers house, I wait in the car while adam is inside making the deal, at this point I don't know if he's dead or not. He finally comes out. for $130 he got a 20$ rock of crack and about 4$ worth of speed. After that we were apparently suppose to meet up with the guys from the house a block away. The guy who took us to the house drove us around in circles trying to get us lost I guess. I wish he would've just said "I'm helping my dealer rip you guys off" instead he literally drove us 12 miles away, and then took us back to the neighborhood to drop him off.

this took way too many words, in short we got ripped. Well, adam got ripped. I refuse to throw more than 20$ at a dealer I don't know.

Rules I'd go by
1. If the person you're buying from deals something like crack It's probably in your best interest to only buy crack from the guy.
2. Don't pay anyone any kind of finders fee untill you have the correct amount of drugs you payed for.
3. already been said but avoid middle men at all cost. Chances are 90% of dealers do fair business but the middle men skimp and rip you off so hard you'll never know.

Most drug deals in this town are done mobile. You call up, the Dealer comes to you or a certain spot and the deal happens. I can't imagine towns where there are just dealers outside everywhere.

Is there any truth to the claim that an undercover cop won't flag you down or try to push a sale because it's entrapment? Also, you guys got any tips on spotting a narc, certain lingo they like to use, phrases they like to say in order to seal an arrest, etc. Like radio static coming from his pants, you know. What should I lookout for?

I've never bought on the street, and don't really plan to. But I'm soaking up all you junkies knowledge just in case :)
