I have a FT, that I am not too happy with. So, I've been interviewing for different jobs. A friend of mine, referred me to a job, and after I exchanged emails with the office manager/human resource manager, I was asked to interview for the position. It;s working for an upscale hotel. I met with the owner, and he offered me a position. HE said, I would need to be crossed trained a few different departments. My first few days of training went very well. The girl who trained me, was awesome. We got along great, and I understood what she said. After, that part of training, I decieded I was ready to give notice at my FT job. But, I had to wait a few days, to give my notice at my FT job. The owner and the manager, couldn't wait for me to start. The spoke very highly of me. I couldn't wait to start either. I was really excited for this job. But, I wanted to leave on good terms with my other job.

A few days passed, and I had to come in again for a different part of the training. I trained for a short while, with the owner. And then for most of the night, I trained with one of their regular staff employee's. HE wasn't too friendly, he even made little abs at me during the night. I have experience in the hospitality field and using the programs that hotels use, , but I was just trying to learn their way of doing things. Anyway, when I was leaving that night, the owner told me to contact him, as soon as I give notice, so I can figure out a start date. That was a Saturday night.
As I am commuting to work the following MOnday. I receive an email from the office manager. He was asking me, if I really have experience using the programs the hotels use. I replied, I do have the experience using the programs, and I am 100% confident. I asked if their were any concerns? He replied, that the guy I trained with, informed them that, my experience appears to be limited with the program. I was shocked. I was trying to convince the manager, that I do have the experience, but I think this guy did a real good job at sabotaging me. Everything changed. All of a sudden, the manager and owner were unsure about me. The manger left it at, they are going to wait for one of their trainers to return from a vacation. And upon that return, they will then deceide if they want me to actual complete the training. I was really upset and hurt by this. I was excited for this job. Even if I do go back, I am going to be concerned that this guy my try to sabotage me another way.
I know this is a super long post. But, any comments or suggestions would be apperciated. I do not know if I should continue to pursue this job.

what do you mean "he even made little abs at me during the night.". i take it he seemed as if he didn't like you?

sometimes people just don't like each other, and if yours and his chemistry wasn't working, he might just be an asshole and not want you around, using his position to influence your hire. i'm not sure what kind of advice i can give but i might ask them to be specific on what part of the program you aren't getting... and try to work more with the actual manager, outside of that other guy's influence. ... he could be threatened by you.

don't try to convince this guy any more that you are experienced. even if it doesn't work, just act with confidence. ask this manager what HIS thoughts of you were, and go from there?

I meant jabs.... I was typing on my iphone, and did not see the typo. Thank you for your feedback. I

I would not worry about it. If he really did try to sabotage you it wouldn't look good on his part, and the manager and owner most likely know how this person operates. So don't sweat it and just wait to hear back.
