Do you believe it is okay to call someone's Dr. if they owe you $ , your conscious bothers you that they are abusing their meds, or they are assholes and deserve a lesson?

If they loose their RX, would you feel sorry for them?

This was a debate today in social science class. Mods, sorry if this is wrong forum.

In reality it is pure hearsay calling someone s doctor and without hard proof it seems extremely unethical for a doctor to believe anyone doing so because there can very obviously be I'll intentions involved, I know this for a fact, in General a doctor will at most question the patient and at very worst just ask to count pills, but even that's unlikely

I have seen people get cut off by their doctor because of repete phone calls. I woukd say its unethical if this person is actually needing the meds and taking them for his or her health but if the person is just abusing and selling then, and they arw a dirt bag and ripped you off or something, hell yeah call their doc. Screw them.

Pretty snitchy thing to do do.....unless your motives are pure - ie genuinely concerned for their wellbeing, as opposed to just wanting to fuck with the patient. Like if you're doing it because they owe you money; i think thats pretty fucked. Like ratting someone out to LE.
Different story if your intentions are for the person's physical and/or mental health...but thats not the vibe i get from the OP.
Frankly sounds like a vindictive way of getting back at someone, and i dont think thats justifiable.
It also depends on the drugs in question. If a person is dependent on the medication physically...you could really fuck their lives up.
Thatd be hard to live with, especially if they need said drugs.

I agree if they are taking the meds them self and they need it. It is in no way justified. But if someone owes you 300 dollars and gets 180 roxy 30s a month for like a 3 dollar co pay and sells 100 of them, they are just being an asshole for noT paying you back.

My ex husband called my doctor and told them that I was selling my prescription of hydrocodone and sure enough, when I went to my next appointment, the receptionist told me that the doctor would not see me anymore. I ASSURE you that I take my pain meds! Talking about pissed off!!

Thanks for the responses. I take my social science/psychology classes on Tuesdays and today this discussion was brought up about "social responsibility".

Nobody knows my Dr. , and I keep it that way. Of course, I don't owe anyone anything, or act like some of these fools do.

There's one guy I know who gets called on all the time...mostly for owing people and a few times for selling near a church preschool, which is against the law here. He must be very convincing to his Dr. because he has yet to get dropped by him.

Just to clarify .. This was a class debate. Lol. I would never call someone's Dr.

It all depends upon the situation. But I certainly would call someone's doctor if it was a loved one of mine who was abusing the prescriptions AND they were absolutely reckless about it (i.e. their lives are in danger).
