So i got a prescription the other day and i was reading it thru everything seemed ship shape but it had what looked like a Pi symbol with two dots above it drawn in the same open space where the tablets i was prescribed were written , does this mean anything or do you think its just irrelavent ?

heh, must be someone old. i never see shorthand and *latin on scripts anymore
It means one dose per day if i remember correctly

what is the med

For some reason I was picturing the symbol for infinity, and and how I'd go about getting one of those scripts! =D

I wonder if anyone in the possession of a stolen prescription pad has ever tried that trick on a blonde pharmacist. Can only dream I guess..

^ In my experience, a lot of people with stolen pads make the mistake of trying to write themselves S8 drugs without knowing the rules behind how it's supposed to be done and get caught right away.

Whenever i come out of the hospital i get a simple script that just says their number and name and signature , plus "endone (20)" with a line thru under it, nothing looks like they used to unreadable. i get the packet and it automatically says use and directed by doctor where dosages usually are, and i've never seen the pharmacy ring the hospital right then.

weird/

I think the days of stealing a docs pad are over man

But..

I went into my doc for some xannies today and asked him about this question (Just said my dad had the pi symbol written on the script) and he chatted to me for ages about the latin meanings of words and what the pi symbl meant. I think he forgot to put the 2 dots on top of the pi meaning 2 daily i think...

He explained about 12 acronyms to me haha.. was kinda interesting.

Hrm that is weird. In most states AFAIK S8 prescription are invalid if they say 'take as directed' I remember reading they're meant to write out the dosage in numbers and letters *shrug*

For an S8 drug, maybe just opioids but it could also be amphetamines and ritalin, it has to be written out by hand, with dosages written in letters and numbers and exact directions for taking. The repeats are obviously not written out by hand by the pharmacist though, that is just printed out by the pharmacy computer once it has been put through.

I'm sure I read somewhere once that S8 ADHD drugs do not need handwritten scripts, but I am so tired I can't be bothered looking up a source for that information.

I think lagger was saying that's what he sees when he gets the actual packet that has the label printed on it by the pharmacy. Some pharmacists might be lazy and not write out the doctor's directions and just put 'take as directed', since it is written on the Rx how the doctor wants it to be taken.

This made me laugh. :D

Every month in SEQLD there is at least one new name of a doctor whose pad got stolen and pharmacies have to look out for scripts with his name on them.

I think they are as in the hospital i was in last they had about 25 empty scripts just sitting unprotected next to a computer. i stole a few but they have no prescriber number on them and im sure local pharmacies know how certain hospital doctors write? they dont seem to call over endone though only 20mg+ oxycodone

my xanax script was a simple written RX white and yellow but i also had a dex script wich was written but that was blue and white and a fair bit different
