Stimulants Rx Adderall / Safeguarding myself against misuse

A few years ago I was Rx'd various stims up too 60mg/day of Adderall IR. They worked great at helping me pay attention when used responsibly. However, I soon found myself unable to not binge and would run thru a months supply in a short period of time. Bad shit ensued so I eventually got off and told docs not to Rx it too me anymore. However at this point in my life I have more self control (am Rx'd benzos and use them properly never running out early even tho I am on a relatively low dose). My only other problem drug has been booze, currently I have been sober one month and am following AA.

I have also started to suspect the adderall may have altered my brain to need it more than before.

I am going to a new doc tom. I am going to be honest and explain the addictive effect this drug has on me. I am not asking advice on how to get Rx'd what, just wondering if he can write something on the Rx that would only allow me to pick up a certain amount every few days. If not, is it possible to talk to the pharmacy and legally authorize a trusted friend/room mate to have possession of this Rx in order to dispense to me in order to keep me in check? Btw I never had enough of a compulsion for adderall to seek out other stims/drugs when I did run out. This is assuming the doc gives me the Rx; I know many would not under these circumstances. NRIs make me feel awful and distracted, adrafinil/other nootropics/healthy lifestyle have not been enough.

Admitting to your doctor or the pharmacy that you are having issues controlling your use aka abusing your script will likely result in it getting taken away, or switched to another med. Find a trusted person/friend and have them hold it for you.

Im inclined to agree with pbuilder.

If you believe that there is a chance that you can resist abusing them( and they legitimately helped you when RX'd), then id recommend starting off with having someone you trust keep track of them for you, then if all goes well move up to keeping them yourself.

best of luck!
