Russo-Ukrainian War v. World War 3?

Russia seems to have used heavy censorship, which hardly a new tactic. But now they are threatening to destroy Starlink which isn't that practical since it has 2300 satellites. Jamming is also problematic since to support so many channels of asynchronous data uses a really large range of frequencies. All web access uses some form of Solomon-Reed error-correction and that changes dynamically so a slowdown is more likely than a stop.

I imagine right now every Russian who is a bit of a computer techie will be shuttled around his/her family and friend getting them access to
the whole web. I know VPN usage has increased a lot. Surfshark gives a figure of 3500% since the war began & Statistica notes that 30% of males aged 18-24 regularly use such a service.

You can imagine, it's going to be a shock to a LOT of people. It was a 'special operation' to destroy a 'Nazi' regime in a foreign nation... now it's being sold as a visceral threat to Russia's very existence.

I mean, even in the Arab Spring, people were using dial-up connections. 56 kb/s is very slow, but major news agencies (those that have Russian language pages) always have a low-bandwidth option. In the meantime, technologies like ACELP is off-patent so perfectly clear audio is available. Things like LPC10e would allow conference calls. The quality is 'tinny' and 'robotic' but it only uses 2400 b/s and I believe researchers have managed to get it down to 600 b/s.

I'm guessing that is what is going on. Western governments are hoping to hamstring the Russian war effort and ultimately see President Putin replaced. MI6 states that Nikolai Patrushev (Никола́й Плато́нович Па́трушев), a strong supporter of Putin is almost certain to replace him (no specific timespan given). It's important to note that Putin could ONLY be tried in Russia and that is most unlikely.

I should add that Mr. Patrushev is often referred to as being an ultraconservative nationalist. Life will not suddenly get better for the Russian people. It seems to be the case that Russian's believe a leader should be 'strong' above all else.

I always try to get information from multiple sources and I've carefully chosen news sites in non-aligned nations which does give quite a realistic analysis such as troop losses being about 4000 on each size but much worse, 6500 civilians. Ukraine is still putting up aircraft but Russia has shot down many for actually less losses than people imagine. But the west isn't told the whole truth. Ukraine also launched a counter-offensive in and Zaporizhzhia i.e. behind Russian lines... but their is NO news on that.

EDIT

I see Russia's government has stated that mistakes were made giving people without military experience their mobilization papers. They also stated no decision has been made on sealing the nation's boarders.

I suggest this is evidence of the Russian people using VPNs. It's a media war. In one way good because it doesn't kill people but bad because now the west will move into propaganda mode. As always, I obtain information from multiple news sites from non-aligned nations.

the russian mobilized troops are sent to the front line already without training like a horde of orcs. I honestly believe putin is becoming incredibly desperate russians are fleeing russia on mass scale. I believe putler will use nuclear weapons within 2 months

PuddinBrain strikes again
and its an act of war

lets fuck with the EU
to get back at russia
Now Norway is the largest supplier of nat gas to Europe...

And I guess this happened too

I actually opened a leveraged long position in U.S. priced nat gas last week, and the Freeport LNG plant should reopen (after explosion/fire a few months ago) and start exporting U.S. nat gas to Europe

Interesting timing for all of this ahead of winter

We can only dump strategic reserves for so long before needing to refill those reserves. Once we start refilling a million barrels a day,...

I should invest in gas station sign companies that make larger digit signs that show over $10 a gallon plus cents :)

Gas is at 5.60 near me today…I thought prices were suppose to be going down ?
They're below $3 all over Texas. You just live in a desert, literally and figuratively :)

every russian that flees russia is a coward and complict in allowing putin to rule. Cowards all of them. They should of done a uprising.
Cowards because they're scared of an ex-KGB head who has successfully usurped power from the people of Russia for about 30 years by violently suppressing any and all dissent? Ummm... no, they're just being prudent.
