I'm an experienced runner/opiate user and have found that on a day that I've taken opiates (namely oxycodone) I can run MUCH farther and faster without getting tired out. For instance, instead of running 4 miles, as I usually do, I'll run 6 or 7 if I've taken opiates earlier on in the day. Does anyone else experience anything similar when they exercise on opiates? It seems odd to me that a downer would actually improve my performance.

It works the opposite for me, altho I can walk longer with out pain because of my meds, I can not walk further because of them. Meds work differently for everyone, enjoy it!

i have the same response, with opiates and any kind of exercise, running, biking, yoga, etc. opiates actually seem to give me energy (especially oxys). what (i believe) is being experienced here is the the painkilling properties of the drug, your body doesnt register the normal tired feelings it would feel at 4 miles, along with a decreased heart rate due to the drug. be careful with this combo as the opiates inhibit your normal "take a break" bodily reflex.

this might be better suited to healthy living though, dunno.

Yes, while high on opiates I have much better endurance. The other day I used and then I did every single chore around the house that I had been putting off all week.
The only bad thing about this is that I think because I overworked my body and did more work than what I am used to doing in a day, I ended up feeling sort of hung overish and exhausted the next day and slept the entire day away.

If you work your body harder, just make sure you get rest and take in lots of fluids to replenish what you are losing and don't overdo it.

It is probably just masking the feeling of being tired. For me I can run faster sober than anything. I used to be able to run forever on coke and e back in the days now I feel its way too hard on my heart and lungs. And opiates make me tired, although on oxy I could actually do stuff.

Yeah I don't run on adderall anymore. When I used to do it I could go for 12 miles and still want to do more. Always felt horrible afterwards tho, and I imagine it was pretty hard on my body.

I've read that alot of damage caused by amphetamine-type drugs is done at the point of exertion or taxing of the body, even though I have wicked energy on stimulants, I don't use it for anything besides dancing... ok I went to the gym on dex that one time... but it just seemed to increase my endurance a bit.

opiates and exertion however... the painkilling aspect is huge here especially since many people can notice nagging pains when they run. For me opiates really drag on my workout intensity but i'm generally blissfull about whatever i'm doing so I can see it having the most positive effect on long distance biking or walking personally. I bet I could... and should take a bit of a painkiller if I were to bike 30 + k for the sake of it.

I hope that no one chooses to attempt any kind of strenuous exercise after taking ANY significant dose of amphetamines or hard stimulants such as cocaine. If you do , please be very careful because you are probably about a hundred times more likely to suffer a cardiac arrest than if you were sober.

I only say this because when I was younger and more stupid I did some cocaine (or adderal, cant remember) and then simply ran about a quarter mile around my block.....the next thing I knew I was on the ground with a pain in my heart so intense I couldnt feel or sense any part of my body other than my heart....I was having a mild heart attack...but it didnt feel mild.

....long story short, because of my stupidity, I ended up doing PERMANENT damage to one of my coronary arteries and suffer from DAILY(often hourly) "panick attacks" in which I have an incresaed heart rate, horrible sharp pain in my heart, difficulty breathing, and numbness in my limbs. Now I have to take benzo's several times a day to make sure my heart doesnt go out of control and tear....causing me to bleed to death internally.

And it's not like I was out of shape or anything before this happened.....I have been an extremely talented soccer player since the age of 4 and at the time of the heart attack I was currently the starting striker on my high schools varsity soccer team.....which meant I had 3 2hr. intense training practices a day, along with twice weekly weightlifting sessions. I was also on a club soccer team which had its own set of practices and training, along with a full tiem job. In short.....I was in goood shape.

......please be careful, I could have easily killed myself, and now I have to spend the rest of my life making sure I dont damage my heart or else ill die.

I experience the same thing, infact i would almost make it a point to take my oxys before i went to workout because it would give me energy/motivate me and i would get more done in the end. A friend tried to tell me that this was not safe but i did it for about a year and i never experienced any problems?

the opiates get into your blood streem and sends the painkiller to your heart. therefore your heat is a muscle and is getting the painkiller so you feel like it is not working as hard. so u can block out the pain of running further distances. but actually ur heart is getting tired u just dont realize it because of the opiate.

Does anyone else find that, during withdrawal, they get out of breath extremely quickly and by doing very little exertion?

When I walk up my road to score when I've been in withdrawal for the past X-days I breath like I've been for a small run :\

I've noticed that when I take kratom (which acts on opioid receptors), I can ride my bike a lot longer and physical exertion seems to potentate the euphoria of the kratom. I guess thats why in SE asia it's often used by laborers.

Next time I take some oxycodone I'll give running or biking a try. This also brings to mind that in WWII the nazis had an endurance drug for soldiers called D-IX which contained oxycodone (amongst low doses of cocaine and methamphetamine).

I have experience with this playing lacrosse on opiates and I can definitely confirm OPs idea
