Hello. This is my first post and it is rather urgent. I know someone who has a history of injecting roxy 30s. I do not condone this at all. However the past 2 days, he is getting panic symptoms with it. He has a racing heart and clammy hands and is very agitated and afraid to go to sleep. Went to emergency room last night and vitals are okay except pulse was around 120. They sent him home. He is now having the same panic symptoms today. What can he do to feel better and is this very dangerous?
Any advice is appreciated.

Okay when you say 'with it' do you mean to say immediately following the dose? He's not feeling that way all the time consistently right? If that's the case I agree with the above poster in that it could be an infection. Going to the hospital definitely was a good idea. If it's immediately following the dose I'm not really sure what that would be. Has he tried just bumping or swallowing the 30 instead? Did the same thing happen if he did?

Honestly I'm just taking a guess here, maybe when he's going to IV the sudden flow of liquid is causing a problem because of a blockage in the veins or another vein or blood related problem? I don't see why the body would act that way if he's getting his dose and is addicted. There IS the possiblity that it's a totaly a mentally caused problem, like he's getting nervous for some reason and bring a panic attack on. I gotta admit I don't think that's likely.

Its likely just anxiety..but this is odd from an opioid.

A stimulant is much more likely to cause anxiety induced panic.

better safe than sorry tho right?

If he can't calm down soon u might wanna get him looked at again.

stay safe

Why is he afraid to go to sleep? Is it because he thinks he is OD'ing and won't wake up.

Regardless, it sounds like anxiety to me, and apparently the medical professionals at the ER agree.

Obviously stop doing oxy....some drugs bring out panic disorder in people.....tho usually after...not during the experience

Anxiety. It's unusual that oxycodone is inducing it, but technically anything can cause anxiety if your brain builds a connection between the activity and the state of fear and panic. Sounds like he was scared of shooting oxy, caused a panic attack, and now his brain associates that sensation with the act of shooting oxy and brings it on whenever he does so.
