SSRI type anti-depressants block the effects of MDMA and other related compounds.
I have no idea why so many people ask these questions, though.
It's COMMON KNOWLEDGE that MDMA depletes serotonin and causes at least a temporary chemical imbalance.
There's a lot of evidence that suggest that neurons are destroyed and other neurotransmitters other than serotonin are disrupted as well.
So why you're going to bother taking an anti-depressant or any drug to correct a chemical imbalance in your brain or make any efforts to treat depression and then take something like MDMA is well beyond me.
If you're taking MDMA and have depression, you obviously AREN'T trying to get better. So why are you taking an anti-depressant?

why jump to conclusions.. i dont take mdma or any of those things anymore, i was just wondering why this is. clearly you have never been on anti depressants cos other wise u would know its not a matter of wanting to get better doctors put ppl on this stuff like its panadol then we are stuck with having to take them. it was just a question, no need to be a tossa.

Sorry to jump on you. I didn't mean it to be a personal attack, but looking back at what I wrote, I see as how anyone would take it that way.
I just have this thing with people in bad situations making their situations worse for themselves.
But yes, I have been on anti-depressants. More times than I can count. I was diagnosed with depression about 10 years ago. And later it was updated to bipolar (which I should have been diagnosed with at the beginning had my doctors been competent).
And yes, psychiatrists love to pass out anti-depressants like they were giving little kids lollipops. However, you have a choice to see a psychiatrist. And you have a choice to take their medication.
Also, speaking from personal experience. Psychiatrists may be completely oblivious as to how anti-depressants truly affect people. But mentally healthy people do not end up at the psychiatrist, either. I've known dozens and dozens of people who've ended up there being absolutely adamant that there was nothing wrong with them and everyone else is wrong. But I've never known anyone who was adamant about nothing being wrong with them that was actually right.
And without exception, if you've seriously got depression not related to external events or bipolar or any similar mood disorder, taking MDMA is NOT going to help. And it stands a decent chance of making things worse.
