Rolling a joint

This may or may not be in the right place, I'm not sure.

But anyways, there have been a couple of occasions when my boyfriend has asked me to roll him a spliff/joint whatever you call it and I've had to say I can't.

He's showed me how to do it and he's made it look soooo easy, so I figured I would practice by just using tobacco and regular extra slim filters.

I kinda do okay, they certainly aren't prefect but my major problem is that the filter keeps falling out.

Any tips to help me out here? 'cause I rather like smoking a bit of green but I can't do that if I can't roll a spliff and have to get someone to do it for me!

Thanks :)

Keep practicing. Practice practice practice!

it's one of those things, you'll be able to roll smokable ones for a while before you start rolling perfect ones.

That's pretty much all there is to it. Once you understand the concept, it's just a matter of honing your technique.

When the filter falls out I put it back in and use something thin to open out the roach. Then just fold any loose paper around it and lick over it. It's not perfect, but it helps stop the filter staying behind in your mouth.

Keep practicing, I've only been rolling nice joints for a few months and I keep getting better & better at it, its actually addicting I find lol

get a rolling machine or a pipe

Not an option my boyfriend asks me to roll a spliff for him 'cause he's busy doing something else.

Thanks for all the input, I guess I'll just keep practicing, I'm determined I'll nail this at some point.

What I do is roll the joint up without the roach in (leaving a 1cm or so gap at one side) so that it's easier to get an extreme cone shape with a tight roach end, then I roll up the roach and squeeze it in. This won't work with filters obviously, just roaches.

Another tip that won't help with your rolling so much, but save weed if you mix with tobacco, which I automatically assume 99% of people in this country do, is to only mix the weed in until about a cm away from the roach so that way you don't need to worry about wasting any stray crumbs.

It's mostly just down to practise. It took me a couple of years of very occasional smoking (my friends usually rolled as well, because I didn't want to waste weed with badly rolled joints) to grasp the basics of rolling, and then I started smoking rollup cigs and within a couple of months I could roll flawless cones.

Just keep practising with the tobacco, buy some slims or king size papers too, cause rolling with big papers is a whole different level of difficulty.

tobacco is the best way to practice. but all in all, practice makes perfect, and the only way your gunna get good at it is practice, regardless of what anyone says here (in terms of advice). rolling joints is a technique that only you can master. you can only be shown so many times before it becomes useless information, ya know? and i dont mean any of this in a bad way either :)

Filters on a joint?!! Why would someone put a filter on a joint? I'm an American and we obviuosly do not mix tobacco with our weed when we smoke, I actually do not understand why someone would mix the two in a joint myself...No offense to those that do it , but I enjoy the taste of weed, and the flavor or my weed, and certainly do not want any tobacco or anything that will not get me high mixed in with my weed...
Is this a common UK practice to mix tobacco and weed in a joint? And if so why is it done? What purpose does the tobacco have in the weed? Just curious really, not trying to insult anyones smoking methods or anything..

Historically, hash was far more common in the UK than weed, so tobacco was necessary to make a joint. The practice has continued even as the prevalence of hash has diminished and that of weed risen. Personally, I find it adds flavour, makes the joint larger and slower-burning, and conserves cannabis. Regardless of whether or not you use tobacco though, filters (not really a filter, but a rolled-up tube of cardboard) have many advantages. They add structure to the joint, make it easier to roll, allow you to draw on it with greater ease, cool the smoke and keep your lips away from the hot, burning plant material. Give it a try sometime.

Maybe I will, normally I smoke weed that is very potent and you only need a few hits off a bong or pipe to get really high, so joints would be kind of a waste of the weed, I guess I could try the filter thing sometime when I have a lotta people over to smoke, and I roll a few joints for us all to smoke, but no tobacco in it...I smoked some weed a guy had mixed tobacco with in a joint a long time ago and it tasted harsh and nasty, I imagine it was the tobacco being of bad quality or the weed being bad quality..lol..dunno which, but one hit was all I wanted and said the hell with that nasty tasting stuff he had rolled..lol

^Well, it was probably tobacco from a cigarette, which imo tastes nasty. I use rolling tobacco, which I gather is fairly uncommon stateside.
