Quick question for who ever can help me out... I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find anything to answer my query.

So I've been booting up my junk in the usual spots opposite side of the of my elbows. I have been rotating sites, but I am tired of the marks being there due to it being obvious as fuck as to what the marks are from... I have tried using other veins in my hands and arms but I've been having trouble keeping them from rolling!!

I was wondering if anyone had any pointers/techniques for me to keep these damn things still while I do work with them. I forgot to mention that my veins are really nice and stick out, I usually hit them first try in my elbow area without any problems. When I try the veins on my forearm or hand its a completely different story and I haven't even successfully hit in either spot. I know using hand veins isn't that great of an idear due to it being far from my heart or something so I have no problem using the veins in my forearms..

So if anyone can help me out that would be great.. If there is something specific I should use to tie off or something I can come up with it im just tired of using the damn elbow vein! Thanks in advanced.

veins in hands wrist ,feet are LAST resort

u cant expect to dabble with this and not get track/scars ...us better techniqe ...use ur thigh

try bicep /shoulder

make sure to do some weight lifting, intense lifting ,heavy high reps ,to keeps veins healthy

The best thing you can do is to use a brand new, good quality needle each time - a super-sharp tip helps both with scoring without the vein rolling and keeping marks to a minimum.

It may also help for you to enter the vein at a really close angle, nearly parallel to the vein. If you push down from above with the tip, it can cause the vein to roll away, but if you try to gently slide it in, kinda like making a landing, it might prevent a miss.

out of curiosity, how often do you shoot? :?

the crooks of my right arm (pretty sure same spot you mentioned) is the only vein I can hit and register first time! :X:X actually come to think of it, its the only vein I ever use these days.. (I only have two to three shots every fortnight)

is this really bad for that vein considering my infrequent use???

I wonder whether it could not be a good idea to attack the vein from the side rather than from some point above it. In this way the vein has "nowhere to flee". Care should of course be taken to correct the angle once the tip of the needle is in.

^ You'd need a tiny needle and an extremely steady hand. Chances are the needle would pop through the other side or not be fully in the vein, and as soon as you started injecting fluid straight at the vein wall it would blow..

It's tricky as you need a spare hand to keep the vein straight and stable really! Pulling the skin taunt by flexing your hand to 90 degrees to your arm does help stabilise hand veins though, stretching the skin over the top of them...

Definitely use a new needle every time. The more times you use a needle, the more dull it becomes and your chances of actually hitting it become smaller and smaller. Using a new needle every time also helps tremendously with track marks. Obviously you'll always have some kind of marks but they're a lot less noticeable when you use a new needle every time.

This is very true. Everyone in my household knows what needle marks look like, and would get pissed if they knew I shot at all. They also know I have done it before, so they do kinda keep an eye out. I use a brand new 30 gauge insulin needle every time. I don't hit near the same spot multiple times. I stay away from the crooks of my arms because it's annoying to be sore there the next day, and it's a place that's more likely to leave a bit of bruising, in addition to being the first place everyone looks.

For all those who don't use a fresh needle every time you insert it into the skin...

^^ I find that picture to be very over exaggerated..

don't get me wrong, every time the tip pierces skin it will blunten it to some effect, but Ive seen the same pick get used over half a dozen times and it looks nothing like that picture!

You may not be able to see it with your eyes alone but run it over your finger, the back side behind the bevel. You will be able to feel it catching against the grooves of your skin if it has been used multiple times.

Used needles never pierce as easily, a new needle every time is key to avoiding missed shots.

Exaggerated? It's just a picture from a microscope. As CH said though, you can run the back of the needle across your skin and the "hook" you create with multiple sticks will catch on your skin. If I stick myself 3 times with a needle and don't "strike gold" (find a vein), I will load it into another syringe. Not only will you increase your chances of missing the shot, but you also do more damage to the venous wall, and cause more bruising. It becomes nearly impossible not to leave huge nasty track marks. It also increases the amount of pain associated with each shot. I've seen needles fare better against hard objects than being re-used.

Nice to see a fellow Georgian on these boards. My veins roll quite bad, but I have only injected myself a handful of times. I suggest working out and doing pushups to get your veins popping out to stick them. I've tried my hands and feet, but those veins rolled even worse. I suggest looking up a guide to injection where there are diagrams of veins that are easy to hit beside the crook of the arm.

For all those who don't use a fresh needle every time you insert it into the skin...

I saw that a while ago and have been looking for it to show some of my friends. I believe it, because there have been times when I haven't had a fresh needle, and I used one 9+ times, and I could actually feel it (and sometimes almost "hear" it) ripping through the inside of my arm... yuck.

You need to try and hold down the vein with your thumb and then shoot with your fingers. Also yea you want to prob not shoot into your hard because those are very thin walled veins. To reduce the track marks you want to make sure you reduce bleeding. So after you have injected apply pressure to the wound and elevate your arm. Blood = bruising. Never re-use a needle you can get an infection in your heart and it will be very hard to get rid of.

Sometimes I wish that my veins would be harder to use. After nearly two years of iv'ing and donating plasma twice a week off and on throughout as well, my veins have remained as they seem from the look feel and thickness to still be pretty damn healthy. Of course there have been times where I've missed and suffered a day or two with a slight soreness and hardening but this is the body working at its best to heal and repair you.

I hate to admit but since it was brought up I had to supply my connection, I'm pretty awful with using old rigs, there have been times that I've used the same needle 10+ times. I've read countless articles about the dangers, and countless articles on the safe use and administration of substances through iv. I'd say its a healthy mixture of laziness, retardation, and careless anxious haste that causes me to continue. Waking up one day and realizing I have hiv or hep would be a sad resentful day, but then again messing with needles and other hard drugs go hand in hand, horrible things are bound to happen eventually. Even if the horrible things are not a disease, you could also face addiction, depression, no money, no job, no friends, stealing, fuck whatever. I know not everyone will slip into those bad habits but you will be suprised what your mind can have you thinking about and actually going through with when hooked hard.

I've never purchased new rigs from a pharmacy, and have always acquired them by a work of god through friends with fresh ones to spare. Its safe to say I'm a ticking time bomb for infection or possibly catching hep from some minute amount of stale blood. Iv'ing has always been a secret alter ego that I've kept from nearly everyone except for the few of my friends that I do this stupid shit with. With that being said I make the pitiful excuse to use the same rigs multiple times, having a package of 10 or a box of fresh ones is just not an option, without adequate transportation, living situations, and the means to acquire new ones I have always resorted to over use. I experienced one infection which was not great at all, I took a few antibiotics for roughly two weeks and defeated my ailment. This was most likely caused by me being a dumb fuck and leaving an exposed spoon with a cotton under the seat of my car at the time. After injection I always immediately follow with 4-5 water flushes, and at times when paranoia hits ill go out on a limb and use bleach followed by many many flushes. I make sure to cap the needle and store it in a safe hiding spot.

It has been a while since I've used. And I plan to keep it that way. Time to get my shit together and rape good ole life. Swallow my pride, hold in my inhibitions, and do what you have to do nowadays to make it in this failing society. I got pretty sick of wasting massive amounts of hard earned money all for nothing. For a few hours at most of pleasure, with a return of sickness and a desire unlike any other. I try not to regret anything. Looking back on it all its easy to see mistakes and things I could have done differently. But really I feel its helped shape me as a person in many way. I reached lows that where so pitiful and pathetic that it causes a flutter in my stomach just to think about. But with that in mind I have the strength to achieve anything. I feel if you can beat a needle addiction there isint really much in this world that could stop you. Just think about sitting in a classroom at college and looking around at the other over charged in debt drones, give yourself a moment to revel in the fact that you hold a power and level of understanding they won't comprehend because they havnt been there.

I've typed for far to long. All in all, veins rolling not rolling most likely you will get it into your system one way or another. You just have to ask yourself if its worth it. Fuck idk ignore my post if necessary, I'm no better than anyone. I slip up still. You could say I'm a hypocrite with an associates in life lessons. I probably sound preachy and quite a buzzkill, I just wanted to offer my thoughts. Maybe its time to let that vein roll for its last time? Ha

if you want to hit rolling veins hit them horizontally then angle them in instead of the normal way always works for me..

Out of desperation i must've usd the same rig atleast 20 times... It wasnt that bad; definetly not smart; but there is a way to kinda sharpen the needle when it dulls out ..

i just bought 100 rigs but ran out of stuff oh well.. prob for he better ivin is really bad shit man

@ effie Wow, thanks for that. Gonna show this pic to my friends who use the same works more than twice.
