Don't meet up with Crow..he'll feed you cheese fries and beer until you pass out like a overweight step child half breed from Idaho+Wisconsin DNA. Not that I know this personally...it's just what I hear ;)

But..in all honesty, somebody do him and I a favor and drag him outta his hermit cave back into the land of the living...and fly me down to :)

coming to Atlanta

My partner and I currently live in Manhatten but the scene is way to pricey and pretty pretentious for us so we've been looking at other places to move to and Atlanta is on the top of our list...I was just wondering if anyone can give me a scoop on what the scene is like and if the clubs are good for rollers and what are some funky but cool neighborhoods to look into for an apt...Thanks all

Yes - I'm living in upstate NY right now, but I'm from Atlanta.

Good neighborhoods:
Decatur- just outside of Atlanta on the east side, a bit pricey, but if you can afford it, find someplace kinda close to the square.
Little 5- sure, it's becoming yuppiefied, but it's the closest thing Atlanta has to a Soho.
East Atlanta - kinda what Little 5 was 5 years ago.
Virginia Highland - we used to joke this is where Little 5 kids moved when they got jobs. It's becoming more like Buckhead (the yuppie district), but there are still some nice older house-apartments in the area.
Vinings: on the NW corner of the perimeter, it has decent access to downtown and Marietta. Some decent deals can be found here if you look hard. It's not downtown, though, so expect to drive quite a bit. I guess driving will be the name of the game whereever you live, though.
Avoid:
Buckhead.

Of course, be prepared for crime and traffic, especially if living intown.

The scene:
I've not had much experience with the rave scene. Funnily enough, one of the central locations is called "The Globe" - it's in the ghetto, but is surprisingly pleasant. Big DJs often play at the Riviera or 1150 or the Crescent Room - especially if you look for the SEKS nights - some of my friends are dancers there. However, they also tend to draw the fashion victims and obnoxious post-fratboys.
The more down under scene seems mostly nice, and it's easy to meet folks.

When are you moving?

i'm going to merge this into the Georgia Roll Call thread. you should be able to find details on the local scene and contact some area bluelighters in there. thanks!

Thanks for all the info, we're planning on moving in february. Manahtten is fun, but its killing us financially or we can both work all the time and never actually enjoy life....any other information of Atlanta would be awesome...Globe

I guess talking about crime to you would be silly, coming from NYC, as if you're coming from some small town, eh? ;-)

Funny thing is NYC sin't that bad when it comes to crime, maybe because your always on your gaurd and people are always trying to hustle and pull some shit. Plus there is always so many people everywhere in Manhatten, you have to go out of your way to find a deserted alley or something. No matter how late at night it is there is always a ton of people around...G

im live in Jesup, GA. im moved form Port St. Lucie, FL. jesup sucks. i hate small towns. oh well once i get my degree im out.

anyone goin to see baby anne in jacksonville. i am. im also heading to miami in march for the best rave of the year ULTRA 6. i went to ULTRA 5 last year. what a blast.

In Georgia

Near Atlanta, and looking for where the real parties are at. Night clubs here in general suck, most money is put into Buckhead and I fear that the combination of Preps and Pousiers may cause me to implode.

So anyone go any ideas? =D

I would say go to Midtown, or go to somewhere off of peachtree. I have lived here a long time and I am even looking for somewhere to go if you have any idea's also that would be great.

I have heard on certain nights when the moon is in the right position and the vortexes of all that rules are in alignment that the Cresent St Club is ok.

I have been too afriad to check it out.

Sometimes the Masq is good, but most the time it's lame or dangerous to go to. The Chamber isnt anything to rave about.(haha...um...) Most everything else it infested, so thats all I got.

Peace,
R.

i'll repeat it again.....

i've had many a good night at backstreet. backstreet is currently the ONLY place that is 24 hours and drug-friendly. i've done a lot of different things at backstreet in full view of the people there, and never had any trouble.

they never have any headliner-shows/big-named djs, but the music is always good, there's always tons of people, people to hook up your party-favors with, and you can drink all day and all night.

oh yeah...
and it's a gay club.

stay away from buckhead, unless you're a frat/sorority idiot, a yuppie, or the worst kind...a frat/sorority idiot yuppie. <---- is there a difference? ;) plus, buckhead is starting to get a really bad reputation and everywhere closes by 2am.

sorry....the atlanta nightlife has left an awful awful taste in my mouth. we don't know what true parties are. :p

anyone live in the southeast ga area. like near waycross, savannah, or brunswick. i live in jesup and it sucks. i love florida. georgia sucks.

hey i am actually from kentucky, i will be in augusta, ga, the last weekend of january. i was just wonderin if any party kids knew of any good partys goin on sat the 31st. any help would be great thx.

i have to post an update. i've been pushing backstreet as the shit, but all of atlanta is being swept up in this bullshit closing early thing. backstreet will now have to close at 2am (or is it 2:30?) like everyone else. however, if you come outside atlanta, north just inside the perimeter, club europe will be the next place people will flock to after the city shuts down. this place is open till 6am.

that is all.
