I agree with the poster above. It's definitely been "more noticeable" of a drug than Adderall IME. Very defined comeup, peak, and crash (although i don't ever get the crash but the majority of people do). Even at prescribed doses you can get energy, jitters, mild hallucinations in the corners of your eyes, etc. But the focus is just as noticeable too and that's why i like Ritalin more than any of the amphetamines. Have an energy drink with it and you'll get that paper done in a few hours tops. Lol. Seriously though, that's how i finished my senior year of high school. Caffeine and ritalin. Try it.
For sure. I've only had Adderall once, but I usually use Dexedrine. I find that methylphenidate does indeed produce more peripheral stimulation and side effects and you "feel" it a bit more, but Dexedrine is superior for focus and smoothness. Also, with higher doses methylphenidate is not very recreational and gives me horrible jittery shakiness, while higher-dose Dexedrine is really nice, clean, strong speed.
I haven't tried Dexedrine yet. Had an Adderall script once, it made me horribly depressed, didn't help me focus at all, made me hate music, and i actually felt the crash (which never happens to me on Ritalin) and then i came down with the worst cramps ever around 3 in the morning so i quit the Addys immediately and got rid of the rest of the bottle. Somehow i actually love the jittery, tweaked out, feeling of the Ritalin though. My tolerance to Ritalin is getting a bit high though so i'll probably have to switch again within the next few months. You think Dexedrine is noticably better than Adderall though? Can you feel the energy, cause that's part of what i like here?
Ah. Despite how my last post sounded, i've actually never abused mine either. I just somehow STILL get the recreational effects from the prescribed dose even though i've had the script for an entire year now. Although i'll admit my version of recreational may be dangerously close to psychosis. Lol. And i find it fun to add in as much extra stimulation as possible into the mix with drinking tons of energy drinks and even vaping caffeine e-liquid (although that did put me into full psychosis one time with derealization and everything, not fun there). I might give that dexedrine a chance this year though. I am getting to the point where i could use a dose increase so i'll probably ask about doing a trial for a month. Focalin was another one i was thinking might work as well. Or desoxyn but i highly doubt he'd say yes to that one.
Thank you for the recommendation!
I personally hate feeling overstimulated, but I get... Therapeutic, non-conventional recreational effects from normal doses of dexamphetamine. I'll be blasting classic rock, doing the dishes and dancing and singing along a little bit, whistling tunes while I take out the trash and sort through the two-foot stack of letters, bills, all kinds of papers that have accumulated in that one corner. It feels good to get stuff done.
Good luck getting Desoxyn, but the impression I have is that most people, just as they prefer amphetamine to methylphenidate, will prefer dexamphetamine to dexmethylphenidate. Also, Dexedrine is pretty much as close as you can get to Desoxyn when it comes to pharmaceuticals (or you could just weigh out 5mg of some Heisenberg and eat it every time) - potent central stimulation, feels really clean. You'll still get the jitters if you chug caffeine on top or eat/snort a few Ritalin, so if you want recreation, it'll work for that too. I don't know - some prefer Adderall, very few prefer any kind of -phenidate to an amphetamine, but I've always preferred Dexedrine by a large margin.
That does sound quite nice then. Definitely convinced. I just have two more questions i can't seem to find anywhere on the internet;
1. Do they make immediate release Dexedrine tabs?
2. And are the amphetamines generally considered more or less physically addictive than the Methylphenidates?
1. Yes, at least to my knowledge. I don't know about the US but if there's an XR I'd expect an IR - I'm pretty damn sure that as either Dexedrine or Dextrostat you've got an immediate release formulation. At least here in Europe I'm not aware of any extended-release dexamphetamine, all I've run into are IR "Dexedrine" 5mg tabs and generic dexamphetamine sulphate, also 5mg.
2. Generally neither is considered particularly physically but more psychologically addictive, and amphetamines are considered by most (I guess) to be more addictive, maybe just 'cause they're stronger stimulants. I've found methylphenidate more fiendish though - the short duration enables re-dosing without having to think of missing your whole night's sleep.
