i went to RXLIST.com ,and it said it was a tranquilizer .... but is it one of recreational value??
any info appreciated!

Probably not. From what I've read about it (I don't know of anyone who's taken it personally, which is rare in the case of any drug), it sounds like it'd be something along the lines of either Seroquel or Zyprexa.
Most drugs classified as anti-psychotics will do nothing short of knocking you out like Mr. Sandman just curb-stomped you 10 times. Unless of course you are schizophrenic or something.
If I were you, I'd probably not chance it anyways unless you're okay with going into a really deep sleep for a few hours.
And if you chance it anyways, don't take more than one pill, it could still end up being a massive dose.
A single dose of Zyprexa via one pill, something ridiculously tiny, put me to sleep for 23 hours after not sleeping for two days, and then 18 hours taking half that dose a few days later being well-rested.

There are 2 different classes of tranqs. Major and Minor. Minor tranqs are the fun ones, such as xanax and valium. Major tranqs are the very much NOT fun ones, and are used to calm down psychotic patients. These 2 classes affect different brain chemicals. Risperdal is a major tranq and should never be taken unless prescribed for a legitamate reason. So, no. It has no rec value.

I asked this in another post, but I can't find it to check if anyone answered it. Does Seroquel stop a trip?
For example if I am tripping on shrooms I start to bug out, can I take a bit of Seroquel and it will stop? or will it stop simply because I get knocked out?

Syd, that's a good question. I have no idea what the answer is, but it's very possible that lower level doses might just stop a trip, or at least substantially lessen the degree of the trip.
At any rate, I'm sure it would only take about 200mgs to knock a person out on shrooms.
100mgs will knock me out in a bad manic episode, so surely it would take no more than twice that.
And normal Seroquel doses go up to 800mgs (remember, it's used on schizophrenics, don't take 800mgs). So there's little to worry about as far as overdosing. But you may be asleep for 24 hours or something if you take a really high dose.
If I'm not manic but having trouble sleeping, I generally take 50mgs. This won't knock me out, but it will really relax me and usually I can fall asleep if I lay down in bed (staying awake and playing on the computer on 50mgs is worthless if I'm trying to sleep). 75mgs is the dose that generally I can't force myself to stay awake on.
I just got a new script for Seros prescribed for panic attacks. 25mgs at an attack with 25mg supplements every few hours if needed. I've already tried this, it doesn't do much, it's not fun and it makes me too tired to work. I wouldn't waste my time as far as using it for panic attacks. I want my Xannie script upped. Actually, no.. I want a strong benz with a longer duration.
I'd also like a Benz as in the car, some gold caps on my teeth, a cell phone, some KFC and some hoes. Some hoes that ain't no bitches!

I've recently come off risperdal (2x 2mg daily).
I experienced subtle "tranquilising" effects akin to for example, Serepax, for a period of an hour or so. Then followed by a restful sleep for a few hours. As time passed, I was less likely to fall asleep. In terms of its official use, as an anti-psychotic, I found it had little effect in that area.
The one concern I did have (and the reason for me ceasing to use it) was on two occasions it caused my tongue to go into some 'repetitive cramping motion' (I think it's called dyskinesia). I would lose all control over my tongue, it would hang uncontrolablly out of my mouth and then appear to cramp up, as if i were going to swallow it ending up in me gagging. I ended up having to go to emergency to get a shot. The doctor said this condition is a known possible side effect.
My psych changed my script to Seroquel and things have been smooth sailing. No negative side effects at all.

My autistic brother takes Risperdal, this isn't fun stuff. When I was about 17 I decided to take a dose to see what it was all about. I wound up passing out for about 16 hours, woke up, and couldn't get out of bed for about another 12 hours. Just walking to the bathroom was a major pain in the ass. It felt as if someone strapped about 200lbs on your back. I also experienced some "sexual dysfunction" for about 3 days afterwords. I was able to get it up and perform, but upon completion there was no ejaculation. I never even looked at the stuff again after that episode!

Rarely, there are aspects of the drug world I know nothing about. This is one of those times.
What exactly is the mechanism of anti-psychotics anyways? Why is it that they act as major tranquilizers for normal people but keep others with serious chemical imbalances from acting insane without knocking them out?

Older antipsychotics block dopamine type 2 (D2) receptors and include Thorazine and Haldol. Older antipsychotics are cheaper but have nasty extrapyramidal side effects such as tardive dyskinesia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome and akathisia. Also, they are not as effective in controlling psychosis as the newer atypical antipsychotics.
Atypical antipsychotics block D2 receptors and serotonin subtype 2a (5HT2a receptors) and include Seroquel, Zyprexa, Risperdal, Geodon and Clozaril. They are far less likely to cause any extrapyramidal side effects but are very expensive.
Yes, Seroquel will help stop a shroom trip.
Geodon and Risperdal are not sedating, but will stop a bad acid trip. Neither has any recreational value. I don't think you would roll very well if you were on either one.
Zyprexa and Seroquel are the most sedating. Zyprexa makes half the people who take it gain 50 pounds after a few months. Zyprexa is the most effective for psychotic disorders. Seroquel is the best sleeping pill if you have to work the next day. Zyprexa and Seroquel are my personal favorites, but they have no recreational value other than sobering you up for work and getting a good night's rest IMO. You can roll better on Seroquel than on Zyprexa.
Clozaril requires weekly blood tests because it can destroy all your white blood cells and is therefore reserved only for severely treatment refractive schizophrenics as a last resort.
Hope that helps.

risperdal is really good for ending a trip. or if your really cracked out and can't sleep. you only need 1-2mg to knock you out. when you start taking more 5mg+ you'll sleep for about 15 hours or so and wake up in a zombie like state all day

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN CLOSED
This thread has been closed do to it's violation of a forum policy - DOES IT HAVE REC VALUE? ... this includes street drugs as well pharmacuticals or anything else...
What this policy entails is asking if a certin drug is of recreational value, usually it's some pharmacutical you foud, sometimes it can be an un-known illicit drug (i.e. "a glassine packet with a picture of a woman judge and the words '25 to Life' stamped on it; full of a tan powder") ... simply, while these threads do not ENCOURAGE you to raid mom and dads medicine cabinet, they further aide you in the process - if you don't know what it is that you're stealing, perhaps you shouldn't steal it?
But of course we all know I am the crack calling the negro black! So I will provide you with a link before I close this: Synthetic Recreation .. that website contains a VERY LARGE LIST of pharmacuticals and tells what recreational value they may have, if it ain't listed there, it's probably NO FUN... as for illict drugs - well, we would be taking a guess as to what they are in the first place, and advice could be fatal, so you're just shit outta luck on that baggie of powder you friend sold you as "Mist" ..
If you object to the closing of this thread, You may send a written email to myself, the moderator in question.. my email address is [email protected] .. in your email please be sure to inculde the URL (address) to this post as well as a polite explaination as to why you feel this post is of benifit to the community and should be allowed to remain open..
Don't take having your post closed personally! It happends to the best of us, and we must maintain order - to do this, some posts have to be closed... there are some things that you should NOT do in response to this closing .. DO NOT make another post to this forum; either to argue or debate the closing of this thread.. DO NOT re-post the thread/post that was closed in hopes we will just let the second one go.. DO NOT complain to the Bluelight admin - they had NOTHING to do with the closing of this thread, they don't care that your thread was closed, and they will NOT re-open your thread..
Thank you!
