Riots Break Out In Berkley Over Gay Libertarian Immigrant Speaker

The problem is it's too late, too many people got guns so others feel they need one too.
To be fair if in the UK lots of people were armed I would want to be too.
I'm afraid there will be no going back in America.

Exactly socko. Guns do their most good without even being fired. Home invasions don't happen in my neck of he woods, bc it would be suicide for a criminal to try in most households in Tennessee.
Didn't you say you were from oklalittledixie socko? That is as red as this country gets lol must be quite a departure, living in France. What do you miss most about America?
I agree they are most effective as a deterrent. Law enforcement in some areas recommends them for home protection. Some people even have a backup gun.

I had recently seen the movie Easy Rider, and I was researching a cross country bike ride, and I was wondering how to ride across rural areas of the South without dying. Danger of attack by wild dogs was the least of my worries. A kick in the head usually works if it's a lone dog. I had been run off the road, had bottles thrown, had friends run over, had friends shot while riding, etc to be cautious. This was in the 2000s. The Texas State Highway commissioner advised cyclists riding alone, long distance through Texas to carry a pistol and put it in your jersey so it (or its outline) would be visible to passing motorists.

I did spend part of my childhood in the South. It was very red. I like to think that one thing I learned was, left or right, that most people want the same basic things, so even if I disagree with them politically, we still have a lot in common. Also, I met some of the most colorful people there. You can meet some of the nicest people and some of the worst people there.

The thing I miss most was the vast areas of wilderness and the isolation. I spent a lot of time backpacking and riding in the national parks system.

consumer: Austrians are extremely lawful people who are always on time, never cross against the light, and don't flush their toilets after 10pm for fear of the sound disturbing anybody living in neighboring flats. Such people have no need for firearms. Even if all Americans suddenly became law-abiding, America has an extensive hunting culture. Wild game animals are hunted for food by a large portion of the population. Most people use firearms. While they have a dedicated following, bows, spears, slings, etc, are not something that old people or people in frail health can wield easily and effectively.

Owning a gun is a responsibility as well as a right. You are responsible for keeping it out of the wrong hands and for using it safely. Before I ever owned one, I took firearm safety classes, marksmanship classes, and learned how to field-strip several types.

Maybe because you're an island with 1/10th the population? How about we send all our gang members to australia and see how that effects your gun violence
your gangs are a product of your society. We have our own here anyway though not on the scale you have. Having a social security safety net is probably one reason we dont have the same issues...people can get by here without turning to crime. And per capita your gun violence far exceeds ours so your point is baseless.

Lol they were even able to ban more than two people riding a motorcycle together, in Australia. I'll take the bad with the good tbh. Rather have freedom and have crime than live in some nanny state. Everyone has a different take on it, but I'd hate to live somewhere where bikers can't even ride in a crew together.

So you are in favour of groups like the Hells Angels? That particular law only applies to members of outlaw motorcycle gangs.

There were Hell's Angels where I lived. I don't know anything about any illegal activities they might have been involved in, but they were nice enough and one of them threw some fun parties at his compound. Other than that, they kept to themselves. They never bothered me. I had a sport bike.

today: Federal Appeals court upholds Maryland assault rifle ban

A federal appeals court upheld Maryland's ban on assault rifles, concluding that the powerful military-style guns outlawed by the measure are not entitled to protection under the Second Amendment.

The 10-4 ruling, issued by the entire Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, reverses a decision by a smaller panel of judges from the court last year that called the law's constitutionality into question.

Hmm well they control the distribution of meth here...are violent and intimidating. ..and droppers that particular law is only in Queensland.

Heller is being disputed it

Is it? I think the supreme court made it law of the land. Wiki says..

District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), was a landmark case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held in a 5-4 decision that the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution applies to federal enclaves and protects an individual's right to possess a firearm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. The decision did not address the question of whether the Second Amendment extends beyond federal enclaves to the states,[1] which was addressed later by McDonald v. Chicago (2010).

^ i asked the same question and got no response:

what does that even mean? 'being disputed'. by whom? and where?

no matter. dispute it all you want. in june 2008 the u.s. supreme court affirmed the decision of the d.c. circuit court of appeals. it's done.

The pepper box, Gatling gun, etc existed.

Unless Wikipedia is wrong, Gatling gun was invented in 1861. Pepper box was probably cutting edge tech around the time of the American revolution.

There were earlier multi-barrel firearms. I'm not sure how effective or commonly used they were in battle.

Cannons, OTOH, were totally covered. ;)

It's so good to see this paedophile milo got his comeuppance.

What's with these right wing imbeciles?
All seem to be either perverts or the kind of never-been-fucked sad cases that have to pay for it (or attend parties where older men fuck little boys)

Ironic, considering how vitrolic the creeps are.
