Ringing in my head

I had an interesting weekend.

I took 50mg 2ci, followed by 50 mg of 2ce at the four hour mark. At the ten hour mark I took another 50 mg of 2ci. I don't do this often, but every once in a while I like longer trips and I really wasn't in the mood for 2c-p.

I always get a subtle ringing sound in the middle of my head about 10-15 minutes before I feel the effects of psychedelics. It is subtle and I really don't notice it once the trip begins.....
Well that was Saturday night/Sunday morning.
The ringing is still there. And it is a bit more noticeable. While it is not affecting my ability to function and go about my life it IS annoying as hell.
I have had ringing in my ears before, this is different. It feels/sounds like it is in the center of my head.

Anyone have any experience with this or any ideas?

***Let me point out that my normal dose for 2ce and 2ci is 50mg. At that range I get a solid trip, lots of fun, more than enough of a dose for introspection should that be where the trip leads.....
I really don't get to "plus four" levels until I start getting closer to 75mg than 50....so these were normal middle of the road doses for me.

wow.

one clarification, i always understood "museum level" to mean ++, or "not quite a full trip because i can keep a straight face while talking to sober people in public instead of laughing uncontrollably at their clothing"

i've had a sort of "ringing" sensation on phens before, but it usually accompanies a feeling that "this trip is going to get stronger if i focus on this sound and enter a trance", not a feeling that i need to take more.

have you ever tried meditating in silence to figure out where the sensation is really coming from?

I fixed that greenmeanies.....think you are correct. As far as meditating per se,,,,,no.
However...I just hit the main circuit breaker, and sat there in the dark for about 5 minutes.

It is louder with no outside noise to filter it. been doing some reading and it would seem there are some theories suggesting that having set ones neurotransmitters out of whack may well cause this condition,,

,,,,sigh,,,,,

as far as where it is coming from.....Dead center of my head.

any input?

more meditation perhaps...

sit in the silence for more than 5 mins, daily. and maybe you will 'metabolize out' the experience...let it run it's course per say.

did you listen to a lot off high music as well? to me it sounds like tinnitus. I´ve had/have this, induced by both loud music+psychedelics+bruxism+ear-popping from flying.

it´s getting better for me now. but has been really bad.

There is no cure for it, nothing you can do, but with time it will get less, and one day you will notice that you forgot all totally about it.

edit: well, maybe it´s not tinnitus you have, thinking about it, but I think you should just wait it out, and do everything you can to ignore it.

in case it doesn´t go away in a couple of months+. You can try hypnotism, it actually works for tinnitus because they can hypnotise you to not notice that signal your inner ear is sending to you mind.

Went to the doctor yesterday. I was getting way too anxious. I was candid with him...his response..."how the hell would i know what things like that would do to you?"

I had a hearing test,,,hearing is fine....same as 6 months ago...no sign of infection ..so he put me on a 12 day course of steroids.

Wondering if anyone has any input on whether this could be harmful if the tinnitus is a result of chemicals as opposed to noise. And when I say chemicals I mean legal ones as well...I take several prescription meds. I am sure I would find tinnitus listed as a possible side effect on at least one of them.

I have noticed that I can go as long as an hour or two without noticing it. I have also noticed that it is completely absent for about 2-3 minutes after I wake up...

Kind of freaked out here. Gonna go take a Valium.

*If any mods feel that this threads purpose would be better served in another location I would greatly appreciate the move**...did I mention I am kind of freaked out?

Hehe at the docs response, what did you expect!?

Did the steroids or valium do anything?

I guessed what pissed me off Skillet is that when I tried to steer the conversation toward the fact that some of my prescription meds also listed tinnitus as a side effect. He just laughed at me with that, "yeah right," kind of look.\

As I get sleep deprivation issues when I take Prednisone I did not take my first does until this morning....

The Valium is starting to kick in. It helped a lot yesterday.

I can see where I can be my own best friend or worst enemy with this thing. Just watched an episode of Lost since my last post...probably went a good 30 minutes w/o noticing it.

How intense are your symptoms? Something mild can be ignored like you said. I would imagine if it has gotten to the point where it annoys you than it is past mild and probably more irritating. I've had this - but never for more than a few minutes. If you don't think about it/ignore it, I will bet that your symptoms will at least decrease. Anyway. Just stay healthy and everything will work itself out eventually. :)

What prescription meds, if you don't mind saying? It's possibly pretty ignorant of your doc to dismiss the possibility, unless it's an extremely rare side-effect that's only happened once say, but the pharm company still include it on the list.

Anyway, anxiety could make it worse, or cause you to focus more on it so it's more noticeable, which is why I was wondering if the valium helped. And you sound pretty stressed out about it.

Prescription Meds are: Lovastatin for my cholesterol. Synthroid and Cytomel for my thyroid, Lunesta for sleep and Klonopin 2mg per day for anxiety.
I take a multi-vitamin and 100mg B-Complex.
The Valium was my primary care physicians idea actually. When I called him yesterday I was a lot more anxious about it than I am today..Guess the Valium worked...The Klonopin was not touching the additional anxiety.\

Only other thing I can think of is I had weight loss surgery in October...am down from 370 pounds to 220....the ENT dismissed this as being related to the surgery..as did the surgeon...
I mention the surgery because there were two meds that I have come off of as the weight came off. I came off of Metformin about 3 months ago..my sugar was bottoming out....and off of Norvasc two weeks ago.....my pressure was bottoming out. We expected me to come off of both of these meds as the weight came off. My Blood sugar, A1C and BP are all normal at this point. Sugar and A1C starting looking good at the 3 month post op point......\

As far as cholesterol...at this point all my numbers are good and once this prescription is gone he is not going to refill it.

@Potrick,,,trying hard...thanks!!

In the end we can reduce harm, not eliminate it,,,,

I have a smile on my face as I write this...as my grandma used to say..It could be worse.

I had my melt-down yesterday,,,To me the next logical step was to get as good a grip as I could and gather information,.,,Thus this thread,,
