Lega Nord? (After a quick google, correct me if I'm wrong) I thought you, er, swayed that way a bit? (correct me if I'm wrong)

Nah mate I might be fairly extremist when it comes to the economy(libertarianism, free market, laissez-faire), but no way I'm even remotely associated to that lot, I'm half Arab, those guys are like the equivalent of those illiterate Americans who think Obama is a secret Muslim. :)

im actually curious how far 10k will get you... i too think that unless you build your own lodging and hunt for food 10k can only last for a year maybe 2... maybe.
however some employment will help out a lot. not least because it will get you better aquainted wih the people in the society there...

Yeah that's the thing Cambodia is still one of the remaining few countries where they don't even ask you for a degree to teach the local kids, english teaching has been a way for Western junkies to live in the country for decades now, although they have cracked down in Thailand in Cambodia they still haven't done it.

Would love to retire, I give it 5 more years in the ratrace then off to Nepal
Hang out in the foothills of the Himalayas, mastering Tummo, Trekcho and Dzogchen :)

you dont need a degree in most countries, not for kids anyway. i was going to do it a few years ago, its a basic exam/course you take called an english language driving qualification. why its got 'driving' in it i have no idea. but as far as i understood - its all you need to teach basic english abroad

I am planning on moving to aruba when I have saved around £10,000 also, which is an island near Jamaica and Columbia, so you can excpect plenty of drugs, it is a very well known island, it is a very hot country, it is quite famous for skydiving, that is why I am planning on going there because I want to become a skydiving instructor

Check out their official tourism website: http://www.aruba.com/

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) says this about the country's drugs:

transit point for US- and Europe-bound narcotics with some accompanying money-laundering activity; relatively high percentage of population consumes cocaine

According to the CIA, this is what languages they speak:

Papiamento (a Spanish-Portuguese-Dutch-English dialect) 66.3%, Spanish 12.6%, English (widely spoken) 7.7%, Dutch (official) 5.8%, other 2.2%, unspecified or unknown 5.3% (2000 census)

If you want more facts check here: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/aa.html

"a Spanish-Portuguese-Dutch-English dialect" - love the sound of this .... sound easy enough to master

anyway, while id love to retire in the middle of nowhere surrounded by drugs and beautiful ladies... i dounbt thats an option for me, since im not in a heavy money making business, and i also plan on having a family later on. so probably ill just snort my drugs in the retirement home and blame the comedowns on senility.

how about joining a commune somewhere? surely theres some backroad in nevada that still hides some freeminded hippies...

Why not Porto - you know it and if you live from buying food from the markets and get a studio in a less than saluburas part of town it would be cheap plus you got the benefit of free medical care should you need it. \Maybe spend a few months in Asia beforehand as a 'holiday' - personally I'd go to north west India near the pakistan border but thats cos i know folk there and $5 g's of premo is to much to pass up.

I wouldn't ever go near Pakistan to live, they have like 35 bombings a day... and that's just in 1 city (Karachi)

@hangover you need to know the area its very complex and tribal but you can get by there very well if you know where to go.

I think in places like Goa and India you can live like Elvis on 10 grand.

Yeah I know there are some places in Pakistan that are nice, like Islamabad, I work with someone from there, and he tells me there are nice and rough places... but I couldn't live there... just seems too dangerous for me lol

Also £1 is like 155 in their money, £1 could buy you enough food for months and months in Pakistan, So if you want value for money... Pakistan is the place... everything is cheap... except the cars, and houses

But wouldn't you get your throat cut the first time they saw a rich western guy with money in his pockets? Or are you going to dress from head to toe in a full lepers outfit everytime you step out the door?
