Respectable Anti-Drug Commercials

It's a respectable message that's obviously targeted at the parents as opposed to the kids. That kind of anti-drug commercial is much more tolerable because it IS the parents job to inform their kids and (try to) set boundaries. This is the kind of ad that has the potential to make a difference, unlike ones such as the commercial with the boy trying to outrun "tic tic."

most kids who don't do drugs and see those commercials ignore them. most kids who do drugs see those commercials and laugh at them.
They're making a step in the right direction for their cause by changing their target audience.

tell me the one where the kid has his fist stuck in his mouth and the nurse was reading the note he wrote explaining it as a result of his stupid friends and him smoking pot didn't have you rolling on the floor laughing....

ahahah i thought it was genius

i can tell you my least favorite is the one where the two kids are hitting a bowl and one does a line of coke, but the next thing you know, the one who doesnt do the coke is dead. does that make sense? not to mention seeing the bowl smoking after the kid hits it only makes me crave the smokey goodness even more

But I'll tell you something about drugs, I used to do drugs, but I'll tell you something honestly about drugs, honestly, and I know it's not a very popular idea, you don't hear it very often anymore, but it is the truth- I had a great time doing drugs. Sorry. Never murdered anyone, never robbed anyone, never raped anyone, never beat anyone, never lost a job, a car, a house, a wife or kids, laughed my ass off, and went about my day. Sorry. Now, where's my commercial? Why don't I get a commercial?
Bill Hicks

There was a scare campaign by the Australian government a few years ago about youth substance abuse. One for alcohol, showed young people getting wasted, unwanted sex, fights etc. and another for marijuana, a guy sitting back stoned off his head and his friends saying `come on billy, the party started an hour ago` to which he would reply, `uhh maybe later..`

Now if you play these two ads back to back, friends go out to a drunken party, fights break out, unexpected deflowering, vomiting, police etc., meanwhile the stoner is kicking it at home staring at the TV. Maybe I read into it alittle too deeply;)

I saw a pretty funny one against excessive drinking, guy wakes up all boozed up and finds a "tatoo parlor" matches in his pocket , all scared he runs to the bathroom and checks his stomach and arms, luckily there is only an piercing in his nipple. He sighs with relief since he obviously doesnt remember anything, and as he turns around and walks out of the bathroom the camera is still focused on the mirror, and we see a a HUGE tattoo covering his whole back "Joe's tatoo's , come to us for some tattos" with some funky dragons etc. Hillarious.

LOL! This one made me laugh :D

also, if you do not know that you CAN NOT handle driving while intoxicated on any substance - is propaganda going suddenly provide you with an epiphany?
Um, the commercial doesn't have anything to do with intoxicated driving, sweetness... :)

They didn't stigmatize pot, connect it to terrorism, or demonize it in the typical ridiculous ways. They didn't show kids turning to drug-addled freaks after one puff, they didn't make drastic claims
it was all implied

why does mcdonalds (the REAL drug of america) still have commercials?
because it's not illegal, so it doesnt advertise itself like illegal items do

I saw this commercial recently and I thought it was well done too. Obviously I am a drug user (Hell I'm a BL'r) but had my mother not spoken to me about it I would have been extremely reckless with my usage in highschool. Hearing her stories made me consider just about every step I took when I was using... hmm

kitty, i think you find this ad repsctable because it seems a good ad about parents being responsible
but it's still stupidly prejudiced against drugs
it would be good with "If you've never told her to use a condom, how is she going to know what to do?" instead for instance

^^that's nodding though, not smoking pot. come on.
driving on any drug is absolutely irresponsible and potentially criminal

As if there are commercials for cocaine.
not anymore

i never noticed the nurse was reading a note, i was really confused how she understood him.

i don't mind the ones that are targetted at parents... there was one that had a parent asking the kid where they were going. and the kid wasn't answering, and the parent kept asking. the moral of the commercial was that parents aren't their kid's friend, they are the parent.

I saw this commercial. I suppose it was alright.

It seems there are anti-pot commercials everywhere now though, I hear em on the radio and there are tons of commercials on TV.

My friends and I would always be smoking when that commercial came on and we would bust out laughing. =D :p =D

You mean off harold and kumar go to white castle? Where the kid takes a hit of the joint and says "I'm so high right now. Nothing can hurt me." *Bang*, shoots himself dead?

Thats off a movie. Not a real commercial.
