My official jump off of suboxone was about nine days ago. In the mean time, I've been using loperamide, tapering down 1mg every day. I jumped from approximately .50mg of buprenorphine and landed on around 20mg of loperamide, which in my case was too much;constipation was horendous. Anyhow... I dose the loperamide in the evening several hours before bed to help with sleep, although I wake up sporatically, namely from any little discomfort, noise or lumen of sunlight that shines through the window, unlike I would when stable on buprenorphine. Albeit, any amount of sleep helps my mood and energy the following day.

I've been yawning and stretching constantly even after getting a quasi-decent nights rest, just to seek endorphin release or help what ever little remaining opioid that is in my brain attach to my receptors. As long as I'm using the loperamide, will these sensations continue? Or, will they go away with time as the buprenorphine slowly weasels its way out of my brain?

Do any of you think minus 1mg of loperamide a day is too quick of a taper for buprenorphine withdrawal? And what's more, at what dosage in your experience have you found it sufficient to stop taking the loperamide altogether?

20mg isn't very much loperamide. I went from H to 8mg subs -----> 2mg subs in 4 days then went on to 60mg loperamide reduced to 30 mgs the next day then dosed 8mg more loperamide whenever I felt I needed it. was completely off everything in 10 days. You can jump off loperamide fairly easily if you get down under 10mg a day. The trick is to try to take it for as short a time as possible so your body doesn't adapt to it.

I was wondering this myself. How does lope help in bupe withdrawal? I'm curious :) withdrawing from bupe i'm in day 6 and feeling god awful ...

I am 110 days off suboxone

My 2 cents

ONLY use loperamide if you're having diarrhea during withdrawal. This will possibly happen, even long into the withdrawal.

Take as directed as well, don't take a large dose.

Ughhh... here we go again.

1. UTFSE
2. As stated before in others threads, INCLUDING the loperamide megathread. - This is very dangerous. At least two people from Bluelight have died doing just this.
3. Loperamide doesn't cross the BBB.

Amen! Someone with a bit of sense.

Let me be clear. I take 4mg doses in intervals 6 hours apart. 20mg as I said was too high dose. Loperamide, in fact, Does cross the blood brain barrier. Common misconception. I don't believe 8mg to be high dose. It really takes my mind off subz cause it readily crosses the bbb, both in and out, as it enters and when it is pumped back out by p-glycoprotein. A very small amount gets into the cns albeit much less than what enters the pns. I want to remind you all that I am not trying to get high, just get by. The reason I created this thread was to hear others first hand accounts of specifically buprenorphine to loperamide switch and if they successfully tapered and ultimately quit using everything altogether.

I gotta be honest here. I stopped the lope three days ago. I barely feel withdrawal aside from loose and frequent bowel movements. I'm sleeping pretty good and in an all around good mood without anxiety. So I gotta say this lope taper might be the trick. I'm absolutely not surprised that big pharma hasnt looked into peripherally acting opioids for opiate addiction and put them to use because it works.

R20,

I am on day 6 of my sub jump off from .25 mg per day. (i have a thread about it on this section), I used DXM and clonidine, no lope.

what was your worst day? it seems like you are through the worst of it? When did the fatigue/lead body begin to subside, or has it?

Lucid,

My energy levels are lower than when on the sub, and I still have a somewhat of a lead body but the lope seemed to cover up the most of the antsyness and urge to tap and wiggle my feet especially when trying to sleep so I actually got sleep every night since my last dose of sub. Sleep helps the healing process for sure, because last time I jumped off sub cold turkey I couldn't sleep a wink until days 4 or 5 which fucked my energy levels and made my anxiety really bad. Though my last jump I was smoking weed to help but it just put me in a worse mood so I decided not to smoke anything this time. I quit smoking cigarettes a few weeks ago after smoking for 5 years and I think quitting those helped with the sub withdrawal tremendously, namely the depression. Still getting cold chills but it's not bad at all. It's just so fucking liberating not being psychologically addicted to anything. Your on day six so your acute phase is almost up. Dxm is another drug that I use for the energy and depression. Four to five triple c's are nice. Better than syrup or cough gels. But yeah I've technically been off the sub for a week and a half now and the lope for just about three days. Feeling better every minute. Good luck and hang in there you got this.

P.s. Sick tiesto avatar.
