The primary purpose of this thread is to determine how to clean up my tar which I am smoking and to see if i can identify the cut in some way in powder.
FYI the way I use is on paper clips, I put it on 1 clip and heat another up until red hot and then apply it to the tar and inhale the smoke. I have been using for 10 years give or take and this is a much more efficient way to use if you have good quality shit. If you have the regular stuff that most users who get tar get(or if you are north of LA county.... perhaps Kern County), this method is not really worthwhile, as the stuff is so cut, that you need the foil to get larger hits to actually get high.
here is the situation: my regular connect gave me a new batch of tar recently which was about 50/50 chunks/powder. This time, the powder was actually pretty good, which it usually isnt. The chunks on the other hand were a mixed bag. Some parts of them were great, they had a smooth taste, turned white, got me high, but other parts of the chunk were pretty damn harsh. This led me to believe that they were cut improperly. Upon closer inspection(I broke apart a few larger chunks), I noticed that there were light tan/off white specs in the tar. I spoke to some friends and we formed the consensus that this is probably lactose and that the connect was trying to make his bag last longer until a new batch arrived. In the larger chunks I was able to pretty much cut this stuff out(it is harder than the tar and takes more heat to melt/burn and is extremely harsh.... I actually believe that this stuff is what makes up the bulk of the tar you get when you are in northern CA). The remaining tar was great, the best in the whole bag. The powder on the other hand, though not as good as the cleaned up parts was pretty decent. Overall, its acceptable, but if possible I would like to find a way to efficiently take out what I believe is badly mixed in lactose from the tar.(BTW the powder gums up into tar just by breathing on it). This would be very helpful as I hate hitting harsh shit, it makes me wheeze and hurts my lungs after about 1/2 to 1 gram.
When I get the very top quality stuff, I can smoke around a gram a day without having any sort of wheezing from my lungs and getting major nods all day long(when I first get this quality, I can't even finish a gram the first day and i plateau at around a .8 when its avg stuff, its around 1.1 and I get a slight wheeze the next day. I won't even touch the stuff which is the bulk of what people get around here. My tolerance is too high for it to do anything unless I slam it which is disgusting for something that cut or if I eat a gram or so, which actually gets me a decent buzz for a couple hours.
I have mentioned before, the higher the quality is, the more white it turns as I smoke it on the clips. I am puzzled as to why this happens and not one person has given me a real answer. The issue I believe is that most tar users smoke on foil. I have a friend who is in his 50s and has been using over 25 years and I just showed him the clip method a few months ago, he never knew that it even turned white. In general, regardless of how you smoke it, a smoker IMO can tell if the quality is good after 2-3 hits. It is impossible to fake the flavor of good quality shit. I have never gotten a bag which tasted good and turned white and was not strong. and for that matter, I have never gotten a bag which turned white but did not taste good.
As for the tar turning white when smoking it, noone to date has been able to answer this question. 100% it is not ash. This effect happens only when using the clip method, not on foil. Also, depending on the quality, it usually turns more or less white. There have been some batches that were really good, but only turned a little white, while others that turned super white, especially when you were getting to the end of the chunk you packed on there. I have heard 2 different theories on this:
1) the white is a result of the morphine/some active opiate which causes it to turn white(I am not sure, but it may happen as the smoke goes over the other pieces). This may make sense, since some types of tar turn less white, but are still strong probably due to a higher 6mam level and lower diamorphine level or vice versa. I am 100% sure the white is directly correlated to the quality as I have never gotten tar that was primo quality that did not do this over the course of the last 10 years.
2) some people said that its caffiene in the cut, I really doubt this due to the logic I presented above.
