Twelve step programs only work for 5% of the people who try them.
Perhaps, but the lessons I learned I was able to impart in my life outside of meetings. I would say being introduced to AA/NA saved my life, even if I no longer go to meetings. In the end its only another tool to help yourself. The program isn't about everyone patting each other on the back and being tough, it is also a group to cry to and confide if you feel comfortable enough doing that. I have seen people with over 10 years talk about relapse, it happens to the best of us.
