*How can i continue Suboxone***

Hey guys, this is my first post on Bluelight.

Pretty much, my girlfriend and I want to quit this horrible drug after being users for 11 months. This is our 4th time starting suboxone. We have been clean using suboxone for 3 days, and today, our 4th day, we decided to relapse on two bags of dope. The effects of the dope were minimal at best, and i sincerely regret this decision. So what i want to know is if i can continue the suboxone treatment tomorrow, or if i need to wait until i feel some withdrawals. I'm thinking that the dope didn't even get in the opiate receptors due to suboxones blocker, so maybe if we're lucky we can just take a 2 mg sub tomorrow night. Or should i wait 24 hours? Any advice guys?

Please help guys

Please don't bump your own thread man, I mean not only is this probably the #1 most asked question here in other drugs that could easily have been answered via using our search engine, which spans over 13 years of us discussing this material.

By the time you revisit your thread, I'm sure you'll have gotten some responses. It's a forum violation to bump your own threads, and you waited like....... 20 minutes before bumping a thread you posted in the middle of the night.

Have some patience, it's a virtue. Plus, it will be essential for the transition back to buprenorphine from full agonists (like morphine, heroin, *codone, *morphone, codeine, etc), because you have to wait until you're in full withdrawals before you can take Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) again without inducing precipitated withdrawals; which is a horrible things that happens when you take Suboxone too soon after taking a full agonist opioid like heroin, likely as a result of being uninformed about what your putting in your body.

Precipitated withdrawals happen as a result of leftover heroin/drug of choice being left on your opioid receptors at the time of buprenorphine administration, then being RIPPED/TORN off by buprenorphine due to it's MUCH HIGHER binding affinity, it's very much like being Narcan'd.

I am very happy/proud for you and your girlfriend for making steps towards a more stable, happy, steady future, where your world and happiness/reward pathways revolve around something a helluva lot healthier than hard drugs.

I wish you the very best in your recovery <3

TL;DR YOU NEED TO WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE FEELING SEVERE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT CONSUMING BUPRENORPHINE UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND PRECIPITATED WITHDRAWALS / FEELING LIKE YOU'VE JUST BEEN NARCAN'D. With heroin and it's super short half-life, most people I know can switch back to suboxone about 18-24hours after their last shot of dope.

I agree with tricomb, you definitely need to wait until you're in withdrawals or the sub will send you into the withdrawals from hell.

I know if I did that I could do the subs the next morning with no problems, but it would just be 1-2 more days before I started really feeling comfortable on the subs. I only wait 12 hours regularly from last using heroin until I dose suboxone anyway, and never have gotten the horror story that is PWD, sometimes I feel a little worse after taking it, but that last maybe 2 hours, and its not a huge difference, more likely just mental because the sub isn't hitting me as fast as I want it to (usually it won't hit me for 1 hour and peaks between 1.5-2)

Let me add that if I did that I would wake up most certainly in withdrawal, so I think that is really all you have to do is wait to feel sick. If you are sick to the point you are really needing something to feel normal, then do the sub. Honestly, with the amount of sub you still likely had on your receptors when taking using the heroin, you probably wouldn't have done much harm if you took the sub a mere 4-6 hours after the H. It probably would have just bumped you down from having a minimal high from the heroin to where you were while on just the subs, just with a little sickness on top of that. I woudn't suggest that though, but to wait another 24 hours is most certainly overboard in this situation, wait 18 tops.

The safe bet is to just wait until you are sick again. For a lot people who have been stabilized on suboxone, using only once is generally not enough to cause an issue when getting back on the suboxone, but if you don't want to risk it just wait until you're in withdrawal.
