every region in the country has its own way of saying things (drinking fountain/water fountain, pop/soda). what are some words that you hear or use in yours or another region of the country?

CA: "hella" "this weed is hella good" "there are hella people here tonight"

southern states: "do what?" instead of saying "huh?" or "what?" when the person didn't hear something, they say "do what?" (at least that's how i perceived it's use, correct me if i'm wrong ;))

WNY: "Mad" "This weed is mad good." "There are mad people here tonight."

"As hell" If something's extreme, regardless of whether the statement makes sense or not, you add "as hell" to the end: "I'm hungry as hell." "It's cold as hell outside."

That aint regional!! LOL, Who dont say that?

Its fuckin BRICK outside.....(Cold)

Blunt=L

Im w/u on the Mad thing GM...Always out here.

Oh yea , you wanna talk about the way you refer to things, lesson one, A SUB IS A SUB, Not a grinder, hoagie, hero, etc. (Sandwich) I HATE THE WORD HOAGIE

I've never heard anyone say "grinder" or "hoagie" or anything but "sub" or "sandwich" actually... unless a person was asking another if they use those words. Hoagie does sound stupid as fuck. I'd never order one for that reason alone.

I drink sodas (but mostly beer).

When someone says "hella" here, they are written off as an obnoxious frat boy with a single digit IQ. I think it irritates the piss out of everyone.

I drink soda, eat subs, change the channel wit the remote, eat Calama'd' , (NOT FUCKIN CALLUH-MAHRRY) And mootzarell'

I would get so agitated if my remote actually made clicking sounds. I'd smash the fucker.

its soda >.>!

actually everyone I know calls it pop but... my step kids call me pop so instead of saying pop we say soda

a call a sandwich a sandwich.. or sometimes a sub, not sure about all that other gibberish

for some reason before I moved here in the place I previously lived people would call a glove compartment in a car a jockey box.. don't ask me why because I really don't know lol

and I remember people quite often saying "thats totally tits" or just "tits" or "thats tits"! instead of thats cool or whatever
or "thats bad" how do you know if it really is bad or if it is bad in a good way?

maybe i'm getting old I don't know >.>

We only use hoagie out here. The sub and grinder shit doesn't fly.

We don't use "beach." No one ever says "I'm going to the beach." We say "I'm going to the shore." And by shore, everyone knows we mean the Jersey shore.

^lol....

here in baltimore ppl have funny accents...well some ppl have the accent. it seems like the more educated the person is, their accent isnt as thick. in baltimore o's and ll words are pronounced strange.

like the word oil is spoken like "ool" the holland tunnel would sound like da howand tunnul...its hard to explain, slang term i hear sometimes is jeet? or, did you eat?

a lot of ppl still say for real, but more like a sentence ender. like, "yo i can come to where u at, fo real" "aight, be here in 30 word?" "that'll work fo real"

call it soda not pop, subs not hoagies, a lot of ppl say wuter, not water. call dope raw or scramble.

im sure there are a ton more i cant think of...

^^^ dude from southern pennsylvania: 'jeet jet?'
me: 'why no I haven't. let's go get a cheesesteak on a hoagie roll and some soda. All yuz coming, yo?'

My mother's family is all from Buffalo, and their Canada-flavored, upper midwesterny local accent embarrasses me more and more the longer I live in more coastal, cosmopolitan areas. I'll hyave the same kind of pop thyat myan over theere is hyaving.

No it is DOWN THE SHORE that is the correct use ;)

lately people around the midwest have been saying "in a minute" to refer to long amounts of time... such as, "i haven't seen them in a minute!" lame

Hell nah thats what we always say out here thats oldschool. "You were gone for a minute where the fuck u been at?" "I aint seen her in a minute" All that shit. You guys out there just stealin our slang.;)

I have never heard anyone seriously call soda pop. It's ridiculous. and no one says hella except as a joke.

'huh?', 'do what?', and 'wuh?' are perfectly acceptable instead of "could you repeat that?'

"fixin' to" is used in place of "about to". "I'm fixin' to go into town".

I don't know if this is regional, but it gets on my fucking nerves. Adding 'son' to the end of a sentence to emphasizing it.
"Damn son!"
"Listen here, son!"
