You seem like a nice guy , honest n that. I am worried that you may be on a slippery slope , when you start hitting the pin things can change very rapidly. Before u no it things can get outta control.
I sicerely hope that you check yourself cos the only way is down once u picked up the needle.
You said that u can still get off on smoking , why not stick to it?

I would hate for you to have to go through some of the things that i n plenty of other users that have picked up the needle have , DVT , Celuitis , Hep C , Abcess, Track marks,bigger habit i can't think of any positives really apart from it gets in your system quicker n thats a negative in some ways .
It might sound hypocritical of me but like i said i can't put the pin down unless the gear is exceptionall by 2days shitty standards. Haven't had real strong gear since last september/ october it was the grey stuff that comes in a slate.

The only thing i can suggest is hold on, and i know it's hard to get motivated, sum good music might get you lifted. but how you felt before you will feel good again, it's hard to believe that atm but you will.
Might sound a bit lame, but make sure you eat proper, good brain food as well, (nah, not the shit wank gear that's about either) veg & fruit, oily fish (if you can stand it, i fkn hate most fish mesself but that's just me), broths or soups wiv loadsa meat & veg in.
If you got a juicer or blender, get loadsa fruit & shit & make some yummy juices and smoothies. i got a juice book wiv loadsa recipes in that i'm gonna try, now the weathers getting a bit warmer (tho today i been bloody freezing) try vitamin supps like multi vits > vitamin D is the sunshine daylight feel good vitamin that we don't get fuck all of in this twatting country and is underestimated, vit B for your nervous system, vit C to fight infections & viruses & for a helthy immune system, vit A for healthy skin, hair & nails. They can all be used as good brain pick me up vits, make sure you take them every day, or eat the good food every day, you are what you eat is more truer than ppl think and will defo pick your mood up and help with horrible bastard depression. Maybe youre run down, if you don't eat well or get the vits, it can make you feel worse.
Listen to some good FOOOOOOKING CHOOOOOONS and have a dance about, watch a good comedy on TV, have a laff a summat like a DVD or vids on you tube a good dose of the old laffing juice helps, go out on a retail therapy session, have a comfort eating sesh with choclate or anything you like, go out on the pull and shag a fit bloke, put on yer make up and sum nice clothes and strut yer stuff down the street, maybe do some voluntary work for a charity, it's a good way to get yourself out and meet ppl, while helping a good cause at the same time, you can choose your hours and days when you want to do it

Don't slam dope, don't do it. Your risk of OD and dose mis-judging is too high. Plus ypu will fuck up your veins-- don't do speedballs- you'll be hittin it 5 times as much- take it from experience.
Plus- even in a hospital with theoretical sterile drugs and aseptic technique- people still occasional get blood-bourne infections which can evolve into life threatening sepsis.
You can get gangree, a myriad of resistant bactera. You can loose a limb.
But of the grace of God I didn;t get Hep C or HIV. When I was a newbie- and back then the supply of black wasn't what it is today we would wait at the middlemans house with about 8-10 other dopefiends from his neighboorhood. He'd get the piece of tar, cook it in a coke can, and then pull it up into his used syringe to see the total volume to divie up- squirt it back and collect syringes (we'd mark ours in different ways and distribute everyones issue.
How I esaped HIV- a study found much fewer HIV infect IV drug users HIV + because it was found tar is not condusive to HIV retrivral stability- its toxic to your veins but also HIV. This study was done by the huge disparity in HIV+ IV heroin use in Europe and on the US East Coast. IV tweakers or straight coke didn't have HIV rates different from the rest of the world. If you insit on going that route- utilize harm reduction resources and familiarize yourself and a friend with the use pf nalaxone if its available to you

As to the whys of the drought- theories have been put forth. It would appear
1.) poor poppy harvest 10'
2.) poppy blight
3.) increased eradication efforts by nato forces
4.) some eradication by local LEOs- though corruption is systemic so probably negligible
5.) Increased international efforts sponsored by entities like the UNODCP.
6.) The Russians taking it upon themselves to satation their own border troops in Tajikistan. UN paying them 10 times their normal wages to avoid corruption, decreasing what goes through the Northern routes whats left the russkies probably consume.
7.) The UK LEOs working closely with their Turkish counterparts targeting the southern route into the UK.
8.) Dismantaling the Kosovo Albanian Mafia
9.) Steped up local law enforcement and increased intelligence sharing between European law enforecement agencies.
10.) The Taliban hoarding supply under their control as a bank account and possibly to manipulate the market and inflate prices.
Most of this is wild ass guesses/ speculations based on bits and peices of news- but I don't think anyone knows for sure and its been speculated on by many on this thread- I personally think its a confluence of all these factors but but aside from occasional supplies comming through, it has sucked from what people on this board have been reporting with exception possibly of major English Urban centers. others on this board can probably provide a better speculation.
Its a trip to you and I being yanks (all the kids at AA meetings have opiate problems out here)- why we aren't effected- the short answer is we get our supply from colombia and mexico- and the border through Arizona is in Cartel hands last I heard.) Canada gets some Afgan but alot of SE Asian H. And we have less users per capita thus less prone to supply shocks.

Agree there 100%. I wish I had someone to warn me of the dangers before I was in too deep. It's scary how fast your tolerance grows and once you have had a habbit even if you are clean for months it wont take more than a week of daily use to get 75% of your habbit back. The problem is if you get use to IV use smoking wont touch you after a while and not to mention how a IV habbit is on another level compared to smoking/snorting. At least with me the 1st 5 years I never touched a needle and when I did start to IV I still smoked for a couple of years after that due to me having shit veins/poor technique and missing alot of shots. As of giving up daily use and getting of methadone I think my veins have some what recovered so I consider myself lucky as I have friends my age (mid 20's) whom have to go in their groin or neck as the rest of their viens are blown and they were only using needles for about 2 years to get to that stage. Lucky for me I never once went in any where else of than the crook of my arm or forearm.
Anyway mate stay safe and remember that every time you use it's going to make that rattle worse and worse and things will get harder as each day passes. I wish I would of jumped off during my honeymoon period as the rattles I had then which I thought were bad were nothing compared to a true full on habbit cluck.

I only IV'd a handfull of times but i managed to get a chemical burn from injecting pills and was just days from losing my arm
i got to the hospital just in time but i had got septicaemia and was on deaths door having IV antibiotics one after another for 2 wks
during this time i had to have all the dead tissue cut from my arm every day.not only does this stink but i could see the bone and the remains of my veins and just nothing else there
over time it grew back and i was lucky to get away with a small scar.the doctors said i would need plastic surgery but i healed real well.
as a result i can never give blood cos once you had septicaemia,you never really get rid of it.
but i was laying there in that hospital bed thinking 'how am i gonna live my life with one arm?'
since then i think i have IV'd twice.i need my arms
the worst of it is i know i am not alone
this happens to IV users all over the country every day

It's odd i havn't read this thread in a while as I've been sticking to my script and trying to stay clean, but last week I fucked up and went on a 5 day bender on the gear/oxycontin constantly. 2 of my best friends have started on the pins, and over the space of 2 weeks have completely changed in the way they use gear, they're tolerance, one has totally fuckin ruined his arm from horrible shooting technique as he wouldn't let me fix him for him. It's fuckin horrible to see and it's breakin my heart also. I've pinned gear on a few occasions but i'm not an IV user generally and have managed to not get in to doin it regularly, but my mates have gone at it full throttle and I don't think they're gonna stop. Not only are they pinning but they're taking fuckin huge risks with their lifes, both are on subbies, they're doing shots after ducking their doses, taking benzo's and drink to get more of a gauch, and anything I say just doesnt get through cos theyre so smacked out, such as you might go under or your gonna loose your fucking arm if you keep missing and scaring up your veins. I feel bad enough that I started using again, even worse that I had to shoot my mate up because if he did it himself he would of completely fucked his veins up. In short, they're personality's have drastically changed and it makes me fuckin sad
