When I smoke heavily for a few days and then stop, I get a pretty unpleasant weed "hangover" that lasts a day or two and is characterized by difficulty thinking (especially language-centric aspects of thought like writing or speaking) and increased levels of anxiety/moodiness.

Does anyone have any supplement suggestions or any other ideas for how I could make this hangover shorter, less pronounced, or both? I love getting hella baked when I have nothing important to do, but my job requires a fair amount of critical thinking and dealing with this every Monday/Tuesday can be pretty annoying.

Thanks!

Yea, same shit happened to me.

I started smoking weed with lower thc (not sure if you have access to this, I have a cannabis card in California, so when I go into the dispensary I pick up lower thc strains 5-7 percent etc.)

It helps a little. Whenever I smoke frosty Cali Kush (15-20+ THC percentage) I wake up with extreme paranoia and anxiety the next day. Marijuana has a tendency to mask the symptoms it creates so be careful.

Smoke less and smoke less potent weed and it might help.

Thanks for replying, guys, but I was hoping for an answer other than "consume less weed."

If I go for less potent strains, won't I just wind up smoking more and experiencing the same effects? Or does this have to do with how much THC I'm consuming relative to other cannabinoids? And if so, what sort of ratio is better? I currently prefer Sativas, but I would be willing to switch to Indicas or 50/50 strains if this would make a big difference.

Give me something to work with, Bluelight.

^ Dont smoke as much. Plain and simple.

If you got bad hangovers from drinking, the advice would be not to drink as much. We cant give you anything to work with lol.... its on you.

Exactly, different people have different side effects that come along with substances. I enjoys getting silly drunk, but i hate feeling sick to my stomach and like shit the next day. I have never found any kind of even half way decent sure for this, so I dont drink much at all. It isnt worth it.

If you find you have increased anxiety you might be able to find a light herbal supplement that helps, but as far as the difficulty thinking all you could do is take something like amps to stimulate your brain which i DO NOT recommend for something like a "weed hang over". That would be silly.

If you are unwilling to smoke less, smoke at a different time, so that the hang over does not last into the work/school week. I.E. blaze up starting Friday night, go all day Sat, and then stop on Sun morning to give yourself that day to recover from it.

Also, from personal exp, I find vapping lets me 'recover' faster, cause my mouth and throat don't get as dry and irritated from the smoke, so I feel more normal faster.

Interestingly, some people get increased side effects from vaping. The consensus among our college freshmen group was that the volcano bags left your throat incredibly dry, compared to the sticky sweet feeling from a good blunt smoke.

Smoke from friday night to sunday morning, i keep it that way and i'm fine.
Or smoke prior going to bed

Weed hangover. Huh. I don't get alcohol hangovers except dark liquor (which sucks because I like a good whiskey/bourbon/scotch buzz) so I guess I wouldn't get weed hangovers...

I know that extended use of any euphoria-inducing substance depletes important receptors/chemicals/neurotransmitters or something like that and takes some time to repair.

Standby, trying to find a good source for last statement.

I have a similar problem except my "hangover" consists of a foggy memory of the experience, extreme sleepiness, and usually redness of the eyes persisting throughout the early part of the day. I too would like to know how to combat these symptoms. Any advice? (No thread jacking intended)

For the red eyes, take a therapeutic dosage of long acting, non-sedating anti-histamine, like fexofenadine (Allegra) a sedating one is likely to increase the mental fog and mouth dryness.

As with ANY drug, avoidance of some of the adverse effects and hang over can be mitigated by staying properly hydrated and eating properly. Note properly does not mean gorging on munchie food like chips and candy. Have a proper meal with vegetables and fruit, and meat if you are not a veggie.

The poor memory of the experience is likely to be difficult to avoid, given the amnesia typically produced by cannabis.

A stimulant of some sort is going to help with the drowsiness, and even the anterograde amnesia to some degree, I am not going to recommend anyone abuse strong stimulants for this reason, but a few cups of good strong coffee and/or a cigarette if you are smoker will likely give you a bit of perk up the morning after.

Very well said. Also honestly just try some visine for the red eyes. I often have very red eyes the morning after a heavy smoke session, but visine has always cleared it right up.

Again, as eukaryote mentioned and I did in my OP, there isnt much you can do about brain foggyness other than something like amphetamines or a strong stimulant, and i would never recommend someone start using those regularly for something as minor as this. The side affects you will get from using those are going to outweigh any of the ones listed here.

These side effects that your dealing with from pot are very light when you look at the range of heavy side effects seen in commonly abused drugs. And the thing is they happen for a reason, they are necessarily tools our body uses to tell us something is different. And in the end there are times when you are just going to have to deal with a few side effects if you want to life the life of a drug user.

I think we have covered about all the ground we can. Gonna go ahead and close this.
