Hello, so on my leg, my calf specifically, i injected into a vein, after the shot a red line appeared about an inch to an inch and a half long runing downwards from the injection site. I use all proper procedure, i have no infection symptoms, aka redness around the area, heat around the area, fever, or any other symptoms and the site isn't painful. So i used a different spot on the inner thigh of my knee and same red line appears.

Its strange that it looks EXACTLY like a small scratch..Anyone had this? And I am scheduling an appointment for the doctor for bloodwork.

Thank you!

if it follows the vein this could very well be a blood poisoning and you should go to the e.r.

if it's not following the vein then i'd give it some time and see what happens. weird shit happens when you i.v. drugs. but keep your eye on it.

It goes out at a slight angle from the vien, not exact. its so wierd because it looks just like its surface but i know its not a scratch.
The first time is almost fully healed and is a very thin scab on that i can feel. Looks just like a mile cat scratch, I dont think its blood
poisoning or i would have had more symptoms by now. Im thinking it may just be a wierd rash, it seems to have appeared both times when
the vien was nearing its last uses. I try not to hit anymore when it seems to start detioriating, my doc appointment is at 10:30am pacific time
so its only about 16 hours out. Ill have them draw blood and see if they find anything, but because of like of symptoms im wondering if mabye its
just cuz its an overly stressed artery, scary tho..

What drug did you IV? I know that morphine can cause a histamine reaction in the veins, but not sure if that's what you are experiencing.

The line is running away from the heart? When you have a blood infection the red line runs toward the heart, so that is strange. Also that it looks like a scratch, infection doesn't really look like a scratch. Could it be that you somehow scratched the skin with the needle or the plastic part of the syringe? And how soon after injecting did these red lines appear?

Infection, IMHO. Be careful endocarditis or other IV related infections can kill you, or lead to a significant amount of damage to your pulmonary system. May not seem important now, but when and if you live to 60 you'll be pissed at yourself that you're having health problems from your IV use. I know from 1st hand experience. Once you damage some of these organs/systems they don't bounce back like a 18 year old with the flu.

I'm with Swimmingdancer, this sounds pretty unusual. Redness should always raise concerns of infection, however. The other cardinal signs (heat, swelling, pain) are not always all present and if you are at all concerned please get it checked out by a medical professional - we're not experts on here, and it's impossible to tell over the internet.

One useful thing you can do is draw a line around the red area. If it increases at all, get it seen to immediately by a doctor.

How sterile were you during your prep?

I have 2 of them right now. the are actually from damaging the layers of skin.

You are talking about an extremely small line (maybe 1/4 of an inch) and extremely skinny right? follows the path of your needle?

Its actually due to the angle of the needle the way you put it in your arm or moving it around under your skin. It takes a little bit for them to heal but generally not a problem as long as you keep it clean...

It's possible it's a histamine reaction, sometimes you can get redness and itchiness that goes down your arm. See if eating an antihistamine makes it better at all. As others have said though, if it hasn't gone away (or gotten worse) soon, you should probably seek medical attention.
