Red Hairs: More THC Or What?

I've been told that the little "red hairs" that are found on marijuana buds are sites of high THC concentration. Thus, weed with lots of red hairs is best. Is this true? If it is, then why so; if not, will someone please at least tell me what these red hairs actually are (and if the signify anything about weed). And while I'm on the subject of weed quality, do cyrstals indicate anything about quality? What are the crystals? And what about smell-does a very strong, pungent odor mean the weed is of high quality? And one final question: Can weed lose potency over time? Answers to these questions, and any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

I can offer only anecdotal evidence, but from my experience both red hairs and crystals consistantly indicate better quality bud. Every strain i've ever bunned thats been very red and/or crystally has been of a significantly higher (no pun intended) qualty than other stuff.
I've heard the crystals are pure thc, thus the most potent thing you can smoke is kif, collected crystals squished together like hash. But thats not too logical, so in truth i'm not sure what the crystals actually are?

The crystals i have been told are pure THC but i heard the red hairs are acctaully not and contain no thc in it

First, the crystals aren't pure THC. They contain most of the THC in the plant but they also contain CBD and dozens more cannabinoids (most of which aren't psychoactive). If you look closely, there are some crystals on the red hairs but they aren't psychoactive themselves. They can be an indicator of quality because marijuana usually reaches peak THC concentrations when about 75-80% of the hairs are red (instead of white).

Well, keep in mind that THC is not a crystal, it is an OIL. So the whole idea about crystals containing THC is kind of shady.
Also, red hairs are often an indication of quality, but weed doesn't HAVE to have them to be great stuff. Ever hear of white widow?

Acctually thc is a crystal and the crystals all over dank bud are fact thc crystals. You can however make thc oil; don't know how this is done though... Also, I have found that dank bud from British Columbia has a lot of red hair and it is fairly potent bud, but I am no scientist.
peace

around here kiff has always been the crystals scraped/knocked off the buds

Another voice for the chorus:
Yes, more hairs tend to indicate more actual mature buds and less compressed vegetative matter. White hairs, contrary to apparent popular belief, generally indicate immature buds which may have significantly less THC concentration than those with red hairs -- although in some rare cases genetics can produce several other colors of female bud hairs in the mature product.
So, although appearance has zero to do with THC content in general, it's a fairly accurate stereotype to assert that the more red hairs and/or crystals that you see, the more potent the ganja.

just look for STICKY ,high CRYSTALIZED BUD,plus WEED THAT HAS STRONG ODER AND LOTS OF COLORS,that always a plus

The white crystals are in fact little globs of oil containing many different cannabinoids. Red hairs are usually a sign of good quality but not always. The older the plant is the darker the hairs get. But you should only let the hairs go red if your weed isn't potent enough at the stage when the hairs are still white and you need to keep it growing longer to bring the potency up. A properly grown younger plant with white hairs produces a more uplifting high because of the ratios of different canabanoids. i.e. the difference between smoking some light herby smelling white widow that kicks your ass but keeps you smiling and some dark heavy smelling red covered buds which leave you glued to the seat with a headache.

I heard somewhere once that CNB could be converted into THC or some other active cannaboid using HCL. has anyone else heard of this? I'm just thinking about the pottential for some supper potent hash.

Johnny Boy, LOOK HERE! for your CNB Isomersation. CNB=>THC..
