Rectal vs intranasal compulsive redosing

tl;dr: why does snorting amphetamine makes me want to redose quite compulsively, while plugging doesn't at all?

For a while now I've been using amphetamine (not methamphetamine). It started a few months ago as a study aid (with amazing results), but I've been sneaking it in occasionally for recreational purposes as well. I started with snorting, for heck/coolness of it, but soon tried oral as it's the safest ROA. However, I didn't really like it: it felt like I got more side effects compared to intranasal and it lasted even longer, which is a great downside for me (intranasal keeps me up for 12+ hours already). So I kept snorting the stuff, starting with 10mg, but as my exam period lasted for 3 weeks (using every other day), tolerance bumped it up to ~40mg in the end. After the exams were done, I took a fairly long break while starting to use magnesium(-citrate) daily and I have kept up that habit, even when taking breaks from speed (turns out most people are deficient in magnesium anyway).
Forwarding to a few weeks back, I found myself using about twice a week for no "legit" reason. I would snort 120mg or so over the course of the night, playing videogames, watching porn and completely skipping sleep or taking just a few hours with the help of GBL. I knew it was bad, but I made up excuses each time. I felt the least I could do was more harm reduction (I would already make sure to eat healthily, take supplements, drink enough water and keep up hygiene with extra attention to dental health [flossing isn't as tedious while tweaking =D]). As snorting is hard on the nose and oral wasn't an option, one night I tried to plug. It was amazing: I could feel much more of a rush and best of all I didn't really feel the need to redose (a single 50mg "shot" would be enough). Needless to say, plugging instantly became my favorite ROA. Luckily the (what felt to me like a) starting addiction didn't follow through and I stopped using for a week or two. I like to think switching ROA played an important role in that.

With exams this and next week though, I've started using again. 15mg plugged gives me a great focus that feels really clean; awesome for studying. This morning however, I couldn't really take a poop so plugging was out. Instead I snorted my dose, but now I have this compulsive need to redose. In fact, I did so twice within the hour (and I still wouldn't mind taking some more, but I keep telling myself that it's a really bad idea). Now that I think about it, that need to redose has always been there when snorting. Is this just psychological, as I kinda like the feeling of the amphetamine hitting my membranes? Although you'd think that a stronger rush would be more addictive (and plugging is somewhat nice in its own way as well). Or is there an actual physical explanation for this?
Does anyone experience the same, or perhaps the opposite? I'm really curious why there's such a huge difference between these ROAs for me.

P.S. There's probably much more info in this post than necessary, my apologies. I blame the amphetamine ;)
