RCs Recrystalization - How do you do it with an RC? (Research Chemical)

I have an abundance of choices, but here and there I have a hiccup in my stock, and I can only obtain RC's in white powdered form for research purposes only.


How would one go about finding out how to Recrystalize these from powder form to crystal, not "rocking" because that goes into a yellowish putty substance.

Read a chemistry textbook.

Ususally it involves dissolving the compound in e.g. hot alcohol and slowly cooling it until crystals form, seperating those out, & repeating the process.

Yes there is no general answer to this question. It depends on the RC you are talking about because you need to know how soluble it is in different solvents.
So what sekio mentioned is called freeze precipitation, you basically:

1) find a solvent in which your RC is slightly soluble
2) dissolve the compound in the warm solvent (take care! get basic knowledge of lab safety before heating solvents)
3) let your solvent cool. crystals will form
4) put it in the fridge. crystals grow
5) put it in the freezer. crystals continue to grow
6) filter out the crystals and let them dry in a well-ventilated area
7) in the end evaporate the solvent to recover what didn't precipitate
