one of the best lines to a movie ever. my favorite time of movies are post-apocalyptic. check out Steven King's the Stand, it is pretty long but pretty good.

so, I'd love to participate in this thread, but I was wondering what people count as post-apocalyptic, and what they don't.

Does it have to be something on the level of a nuclear holocaust? or can it just be a dystopic future?

Not necessarily post-apocalyptic in the traditional sense, but Children of Men is the best I can think of

Spacehunter or The Navigator: a medievil odyssey. not strictly post-apocalyptic but well worth a watch

Can't believe no one's mentioned Mad Max 2 (released as The Road Warrior in the U.S.). Far and away the best and most stylish postapocalyptic movie I've seen--90% scenery and action. Then again, Mad Max has always been a kind of masculine role model for me--the ultimate strong, silent type.

all the movies i can think of have allready been said, but some really fun post-apocalyptic computer games are the 'fallout' series for pc. basically a sort of roguelike role playing game (non-linear story line [FREEDOM!!]) in a post-apocalyptic world.

as for the mad max series... mad max three is the only one that really attempts to tackle post-apocalyptic themes... the second one partially does, and the first one isn't even based in a post-apocalyptic world (a fact which the second movie never adresses, despite being based in the post-apocalyptic world) is the cause of the apocalypse in mad max ever explained?

I just saw 12 Monkeys and it was one of the most haunting flicks I've ever seen... really, REALLY fucking incredible film. It wasn't exactly visceral, but it's really mentally engaging
