O.k. I posted this response to another post, but it was old and may not be seen. I recently went through the experience I'm about to describe and hope that it can bring some help to some people. I did not realize what a monster oxymorphone is until it was too late. So here is my experience, and if there is anything said that shouldn't be...please edit it and advise me. I don't post often but check often for good advice. So here goes...

I recently began opana. As soon as my doc switched me from 40mg oxy's 2 x daily, to 20mg opana 2x daily...I started testing the waters with shooting them. I learned how to bypass the abuse prevention on my oxy's...so the opana was the same process. I was amazed at how strong the first day when I shot 2.5 was. The next day...5 mg and was even more amazed. By the end of the week I was up to 10mg 4 x daily. Now, I couldn't go above that because my wife keeps them under lock and key, but it was only after a few weeks I found myself occasionally trying 15mg and then taking the 5, while experiencing a little withdrawl right before shooting up my next 10. Damn I thought...3 weeks ago I was on 40 mg 2 x daily oxy (which I would only shoot every now and again because of the bioavailabilty), and now here I am shooting up to 15mg opana (which is like 150mg oral...and like 300mg oxy). Holy shit! So I tried to quit...well I may as well have been taking water when I started taking them orally. So I quickly went back to shooting. After another week, the 10mg 4xdaily wasn't cutting it. By the 6 hour mark I was sweating like a pig and I was ending up with marks all over the fucking place. And my wife knows what they look like. So I manned up and did what I needed to do. I told my wife. She knows I'm an addict, and had noticed I was acting weird...so she wasn't shocked. She knew I was an addict before she married me, and aside from the occasional couple week slip up.... I've done really well. Well, I had no idea how quickly this drug would start to turn my life to shit, so telling her and dealing with it was better than how I was living....again when just less than a month ago, this wasn't a problem. Hadn't even shot an oxy in 6 months, and I did that for a couple days and stopped. No problem switching back to oral there. So, we prepped for what was going to happen and I prepared everything I knew to deal with WD's. So here is what I did...

Opana: Took my normal daily oral dose of 20mgs x 2.
Ketamine: I'm a lucky SOB in the fact that I can get ketamine anytime I want for nothing because of the fact that the guy I get it from does a little switch-a-roo with me on things I have that he is not into. So, This was a HUGE help.
DXM: Took about twice the dose of DXM as I did ketamine am and pm, for the duration of WD's. So, if I was using (just to give it a number), 100mgs ketamine several times daily. I would take 200mgs DXM am and pm.
Tagamet: Took 100mg morning and night.
Immodium: Took like 12mg the first dose and 4mg two more times a day. (only did this for a couple days thank god or I would have never shit again)
Klonopin: I have a script for them and have forever. Whenever I can, I will break one of my doses in half and have several saved up since my wife takes it too...and her doc is unreliable. So I added a few extra Klonopin to my routine for several days.
Zanaflex: I take this for muscle spasms in my back (I've had my spine fused), but this shit will knock you out. So I added some extra zanaflex to the routine during the day, and especially before bed so I could sleep the worst of it off.
Bentyl: It's actually a drug for IBS, but was prescribed by my practitioner to me for the off label useage as that it reduces sweating. You wouldn't want to take a shit ton and go out in the heat...but a little before bed when you sick will stop your from having night sweats like I do. So I have a shit ton of these and took several extra during the day, as well as a couple extra before bed.
Neurontin: I take this for sciatic nerve pain again stemming from the back. I have quite a few extra of these, so I kinda went hog wild for a few days on these. Being as that you can't really od on Neurontin, the more the merrier.
Tylenol and Ibuprofen: I took a bunch of this for a few days. Way more than my normal dose to help deal with the aches and pains.

So...I took my last shot on a Saturday night. By Sunday morning I felt like rats ass. But, it could have been much more rats ass if I didn't have all the helpers on hand. Spent the first day feeling like butt...and in quite a fog from all the pills. Monday...only about 1/2 as bad as Sunday so I figured I could reduce my dose on Tuesday. Woke up Tuesday not feeling too bad at all...so I reduced the meds a bit, but not too much. Wednesday...felt like worst of it was over. Except for a few things, went back to my normal pill routine. Thursday...was able to return to my normal pill routine, felt the fog lift, and felt pretty much normal for the most part. Friday...felt pretty much back to normal, but had to up the caffeine seriously cause I just felt blah. Felt blah for a few more days...and my body had adjusted back to the normal oral dose. So except for a shitty Sunday that I thought would be worse than it was, and moderately shitty Monday...the rest was cake compared to previous WD's without all the helpers.

So don't sweat it so much. If you have 1/2 the help I did...it won't be that bad. More like a nasty case of the flu for a few.

Dude I was in your exact situation, without shooting but no judgment.
I was doing around 80 to 100mg of Opana a day for 3 years and it is hell to get off of.

Look into Gabapentin, I tapered on subs for only one month, then just took some benzos and Gabapentin and I'm on day 8 and I feel ok.

Edit: Neurotin is Gabapentin I'm pretty sure so nevermind. Nice taper man keep it up. I took a lot of the things you did to taper and I'm feeling alright.
Didn't have any K, but it's not my thing when I'm feeling good anyway.

Nice work, keep it up,

-FRF
