Ive been on just about every ssri for over a year now.

I hate the side effects. The mental fog it gives me makes me feel like a useless slug and often has me staying inside instead of being active.

i began tapering off of 100 luvox last weekend and its been hell

i find my self addicted to them. I dont want them, i hate them, but even when i take 1/4 of a pill i feel a positive reaction that helps me calm down, but i dont want to continue on these even tho they do seem to help me at a low dosage.

what are the best natural alternatives for depression/mood disorder?

Ive heard of htp sam-e L tyrosine im not very well researched tho

anything would be great.

btw i am on lithium 450 ER 3 x a day. if i could get off this, i would be grinning

IMO tyrosine's effects are VERY VERY small.
not sure about SAMe
and 5HTP is great for occasional use.

The studies seem to indicate exercise and therapy.

You can take these other things but my guess is that they will mostly have a placebo effect, if anything. In that regard they may also work too, though.

Exercise is the best antidepressant, as has already been mentioned. The combination of a racetam (usually piracetam or aniracetam, the latter is also allegedly anti-anxiety) and a cholinergic (usually lecithin or choline bitartrate) is popular among people with "brain fog" issues.

Lithium is usually prescribed for serious mood disorders that don't respond to other types of medication. What exactly seems to be your problem?

Tell your doctor you don't like SSRIs and that they affect your ability to think clearly. There are some alternatives.

I can rattle off a list of antidepressants which are supposed to have few side effects but it isn't going to do you much good since I don't know much about you, your medical history, or cyclothymia itself for that matter -- and that probably applies to anyone else who might give you advice here.
