As I pull into the driveway
I see my brightest star
Beck's already at my window
Before I can stop the car
She screams my name
And hugs me tight
Her child-like manner
So bubbly and bright
Her body is nineteen
Her mind is only eight
But she seems contented living
In her fate-induced state
She takes me to her room
And shows her new toys
She dances with me for hours
To the top-40 music she enjoys
We sit and paint pictures
And ride her pink bike
I read her favourite story
About a bear called spike
Her body is nineteen
Her mind is only eight
But she seems contented living
In her fate-induced state
She tells me of her dreams
Of a certain boy she loves
And I wonder what she understands
Of this love she speaks of
I wonder what will happen
As each new day unfolds
I worry how she will handle
What the future holds
Her body is nineteen
Her mind is only eight
I'm glad she's contented living
In her fate-induced state

...ah, to be young again...
Indeed... but imagine having to be young forever? It sounds like an ideal state to be in, only that one day the people who protect her from the world that surrounds her, the world she doesn't quite understand, won't be around... and what happens then?
I do worry... :|

That was touching Kelle! I find myself oft using the same rhyme/metre. What it lacks in complexity it more than makes up for in impact.
My sister celebrated her 19th birthday today too, and I can't help but see some similarities.
My best wishes to Rebecca.

Medically, she's not capable of growing up. Maturity is something she will never experience.
