Opioids Reasonably safe?

What is considered a reasonably safe jump in dosage of oxycodone? Have been taking 5-10mg of oxy daily for about a week with a couple doses of 20mg. Interested in trying out 30mg but wondering if its not too much of jump... Goal is a comfortable nod and mostly numb body. This is primarily for pain and secondary to have some mental escape time.

Would spikes in dosage increase tolerance unproportional compared to just increasing by 5mg as needed?

Yes, large spikes in dosage will make tolerance jump accordingly.

it would be wiser to increase the dosage of e.g. NSAIDs.

I assumed that would be the case. NSAIDs are not an option due to destroying my stomach. Have tried other more neuro meds for pain and the side effects always outweighed the pros by a landslide.

No point of jumping up to 30 if you are still only doing 20 occasionally. This is the big mistake people make and then wonder why they, in what seems like the blink of an eye, need 300 mg to get high. At the rate you are going, jumping up from 5-10 to 20 in a week and already thinking 30, you will be needing ridiculously large doses in a few months. As a daily user once you bump it up to a higher dose, even just once, you will find yourself not getting to where you were before on the former dose.

Also I will tell you this much, if you are looking to get a decent/strong nod every time and that "numb" sensation, you are gonna end up jacking up your tolerance pretty damn quick.

Will ride the 20 mark till it starts treating me like the current 5-10. Will have a little trouble explaining why I need such a large jump to my Dr.

The body numb and nod is far from needed every time. Usually what I am shooting for is a slight warmth and time pass a little faster.

There's ways around this. Talk to your doctor.

Tried NSAIDs with various stomach meds with no luck.... went topical also with no luck. If there are other options my Dr didnt offer them. At that point he just switched to the oxy.

try taking 300mg chelated magnesium 30 minutes before dosing every time to prevent tolerance development so that you don't have to increase the dose.

I did some reading and decided this med is best taken as rarely as possible. And with me wanting to have a nice nod once in a while it would be in my best interest to stay constantly low with once a week max for a higher dose.

Doing all the other med combinations to maybe reduce the building of a tolerance or increase the effects just seems like a hassle.

Would take phenergan if it was prescribed to me but it's not... So that's it.

^With magnesium it may help keep tolerance from building, but more importantly I have found that opiates just don't work that well if I am deficient in magnesium. Being a daily heroin heroin (aka junkie) I have found it is the absolutely necessary to make sure I get the most bang for my buck. I actually ran out of mag supplements on Monday, so didn' take any on Tuesday, which was not a big deal b/c I had taken a good amount on Monday. But on yesterday I noticed I was not getting very high at all from my first 2 doses of the day, and my 2nd dose was a pretty good sized one. Noticing this, first thing I thought was the stuff was bunk, which seemed odd b/c it looked identical to my last bags and they were good. Then I though about not having taken a Mg sup recently, so I ran to GNC and grabbed some Mag Ox (would of liked Citrate or Stearate but unbelievably GNC had neither, the guy working there even said someone had just came in looking for Mag Citrate, as well). I went straight home, ate a decent meal and popped a few of those along with the meal. Waited an hour and then dosed up again. Surprise, I was nice and high, much higher than earlier off less than I used earlier. IMO Mg is an absolute must for anyone using opiates regularly.

Celebrex is a selective COX-2 inhibitor. Bad for the heart tho. Has less activity then VIOXX but...we know where it goes.
