REAL opium???

Okay, So im new to opium, and I am a bit confused......
I dont here about it much where Im from, and what I have heard of it, it is always about either "white rock opium" or "red rock opium"
Now, from the research I have done, Neither of the two are opium at all, and "Red Rock"
is actually a type of incense that you can buy over the internet.
So here is my question, is REAL Opium out there? and if so, what does it look like?
I would also like to know what the side effects are of "White rock", and what it actually is....
if anyone could help, I would appreciate it

White rock and Red rock are simply bullshit - who knows what side effects they have as so many things are sold as white/red rock opium..
Real opium is a black/dark brown tar.. it's gummy, not hard at all.. you can play with it and make it into cool shapes! It will have a very nice smell and taste better then that red rock shit when smoked - the biggest difference is that it will GET YOU HIGH! It isn't that common on the street..

Opium generally comes from domestic people that grow small amounts their self, so it's not like we are seeing organized groups smuggling it (like we see with all other drugs - to Pablo and Juan, opium is worth more as a precursor to heroin then it is as smokable opium...

Just curious, about how many pods does it take to get a decent size amount of opium, like say for about 10 hits worth? I've always wondered that.. I guess it depends on how well you score the pods, and when. It is definately a skill that the indians and chinese and such developed over the years.
 
opium rare? mate, just hop on a plane to Norhtern Thailand / Cambodia / Vietnam, any cyclo driver will gladly sell you some.
real opium is a somewhat oily, black-brown, sticky paste at room temp, with a very distinctive smell, especially when burning -sweet and cool, the flavor of dreams. in Vietnam, it was sold in 1 and 5 gram lots, as chunks pressed flat between 2 pieces of cellophane.
highly advise against purchasing anything advertsised as opium that comes in rock form.
a caveat - a number of years ago, in Southern Cali at a Dead show, i was sold "crystallineopium" - looked like amber/freshly dried tree sap, chipped into crystals, tasted and smelled like the real thing when smoked - although to this day i dont know if it was - the ~1000 mics of black pyramid gels made it difficult to discern specific effects...
 
To find opium anywhere outside of where it is produced is quite a feat. Just like there is no economic incentive to put heroin into pills, nor is there an incentive to smuggle opium. Why smuggle opium, with its strong and easily detectable scent and low ratio of drug matter to weight, when one can refine it into heroin, get more money for it, get it in a form which junkies want, and be able to conceal it and carry it much more easily? Smuggling opium is suicide. I wouldn't trust any "opium" that was sold to me unless I bought it straight out of the golden triangle, and even then I would suspect I was being shorted.
Anyhow, its already been made clear that opium is a black, resinous material. Thus red rock is automatically fake, and is in fact dragon's blood incense, which you can order over the internet. White rock isn't any more authentic than red rock, although there is a good chance it might be straight-up heroin, marked up at a premium because it is "opium".
 
Lets stop telling everyone what Red Rock Opium really is.

I've never found opium in the states, it shouldn't be too hard to find in mexico where they refine it just a bit so they can cut it with shit and make that low grade black tar that is so popular here on the west coast. I did smoke some when I was travelling in turkey but I had a white heroin connection at the time, so obviously I wasn't that impressed with the high the opium gave me.... really mellow with a slow onset compared to the rushes I'd get mainlining that white.Thank god it's really hard to find white heroin here... I doubt I'd ever would have been able to get rid of my habit otherwise.
 
I looked hig and low for REAL opium - I got some alright - but I ended up growing it myself and milking the pods (it takes a fair number of pods to get a *moderatoe* amount of opium... so no, your chances of finding REAL opium on thestreet are as good as your chances offinding an HIV/AIDS free raver who is interested in having a healthy relationship ratherthen fuckingyou for that last bean...
