I was in an ied explosion in Iraq in 06. I herniated a disc in my back and have siatic pain as a result. I have been on numerous opioid drugs over the years. Over the last year and a half it has gotten out of control. It's time for this to end. I have a scrip for oxycodone hcl that will arrive in the mail from the VA next week. I am also looking into surgery through a doctor outside the VA because the VA takes years to get a referral for a surgeon and they just arent as good. I went to the outside doc today and they wrote a scrip for vicodin. The scrip is for 200 tabs with 5 refills. I couldn't help but take it as I am out of oxy. I am ready to call and cancel the rx with the VA tomorrow but am afraid of the doc using the data base and seeing that I got this new scrip. I want to use the vicodin to taper. What are the chances that I will get in trouble? If I get in trouble, what are the conciquenses? I live in iowa.
