reaching psychedelic states w/o psychedelics

^Ha, I think you may have a rather broad definition of a psychedelic state. I understand why you are linking things like grief and fasting with psychedelia but they are completely different.

But, in saying "nothing so far has come close to actually delivering the goods the way a partnership with shamanic plants can"- which is sort of stating the most pure and obvious truth. Of course nothing can compare because you are contrasting completely different things; its like saying that there are no apples in the world that taste like oranges. Its so true as to be inconsequential.

In other news, who cares? ;)

Nephtys and thoughtsUnThought, I have posted an experience report here in the Big & Dandy ++++ (plus four experiences) thread for those who were curious!

With mediation, OOBE, yoga etc. and psychedelics you can reach at some point a place you can access with both.
I find it hard to remember the psychedelic state sober, but I know it exists.
It shows a very unique side of life, which makes life worth living for.

So very true. The benefits of a peak experience are immeasurable. Having these experiences reminds you that everything is okay and that existence really is a totally perfect thing.

I've read ++++ peak experience :)
Wow, just wow, I hope one day I can achieve such an experience.
Weren't your anxious that you were going insane? I fear sometimes I fear I'm psychotic if I reach a ++++ when sober...

I'm sure one day you will. :)

Actually, no, I didn't fear insanity at all. Quite the opposite in fact, in that I felt like I was waking up in to sanity. I actually feel blessed to experience these states, they are ecstatic.

I'm not sure about the state of mind but I usually have no trouble bringing back those visuals by "staring into space" and keeping my eyes still until everything starts to shift around me, and soon the room around me becomes unrecognizable :)

^This is what happens to me when I meditate. Things actually start to warp and breath, and change in luminosity and colour saturation. The visual warping is completely interelated with what my mind is doing, and it works as a kind of biofeedback mechanism for me to use to alter my perspective accordingly. I get these visuals more and more without consciously trying now.
