Amazingly, one can dance, socialize and enjoy the music without taking anything.
No I was joking 8), of course I mean it. I just don't enjoy myself at raves anymore and I always feel like I wasted my money getting in.Eis4Jimmy said:Raves aren't fun, you really mean that? Wow! First time I've heard that... Why don't you think they are fun?

Maybe it was boring for you because you weren't into the type of music that they were playing. Actually I think that it was because you went there with the expectation that everyone was going to be high and you were not.
I hope that you aren't saying that electronic music cannot be appreciated unless you are under the influence of drugs 8)

.
I must admit that the activation of the sensitivity that lets those bass waves tickle you soooo good is one reason I feel I am more able to 'fully-experience' the music. I raved sober quite a bit earlier in my career; but once I became semi-connected I always know at least one friend that's got an excuse to pill tonight and one person pilling is enough excuse for another to join. It's not that I appreciate the music and less when I am sober and unaffected by psychoactives (I normally dance harder for longer when sober); but when I am offered a donut I find it hard to turn down free 'sprinkles'. Just makes the donut that much more flavorful.purplefirefly said:^^
I agree with the two above.
I sort of see raves like any other type of concert, you are there to enjoy the music. I wouldn't go see my favorite band and be bummed because I wasn't drunk or high, it really shouldn't be any different with raves.
If there is a DJ that you really like why would you have less appreciation for him/her just because you aren't high.

I know I don't post on BL much anymore, and I'm kinda playing the devil's advocate here; but this is an issue I'd love to hear feedback on. Most of my friends feel the same way....and many a night I leave with plans to eat a cake donut when a friend with sprinkles in his asks me to join him.... I just tend to feel that the full (120%, audio, *physical*, *visual*, *social*) environment of a rave is most fully experienced with the tool of psychedelic compounds. IMHO, ravers are pretty much just hippies with computers and cell phones. Thoughts?

Now sober? I don't go around bumping techno in my car day to day, I listen to rap or whatever else, but not really techno. But when rolling, damn right I'm bumping some sick ass Electronic music. BEcause of the drug, and the drug and techno goes hand in hand.
So being sober, lights are cool i guess, you can be friendly i guess, dancing can be fun kinda.. and music sounds good but not like WHOA.
Ecstasy is used to heighten every aspect of a rave 10 times to make it like HEAVEN, compared to kinda cool.

..and its NOT fun
Eis4Jimmy said:Just wondering if anyone has ever been to a rave without taking anything and remaining totally sober... whilst on ecstasy a rave is perfect but whats it like to be at one without being on it??? Anyone out there know? Is it weird? Does everyone look like freaks!?
