Rave Drug Ecstasy Causes 'Lasting Changes in Brain' Says New Research

This isn't a clinical study; they're comparing brain scans of "females who had used Ecstasy" and "females who had never used the drug". A big portion of the random ravers they could have surveyed who "had used ecstasy" often take pills with substances other than mdma and practice unsafe dosing regimens; i.e. redosing in one night, not spacing rolls out, ect.
We would gain much more concrete information from a scientific study that takes a big group of people who have never done mdma before, keeps half of them that way, and administers a dose of say, 150 mg every 2 months to the other group. After a year we might actually gain some insight into the serotonogenic damage done by more reasonable mdma usage.

hate to rain on ur parade but there is no new information in this article....neurotoxicity= changes in the brain, i'd say the majority of ppl rolling know that it causes changes related to serotonin in the brain...

this quote from the article actually made me LOL : "Our studies suggest that if you use Ecstasy recreationally, the more you use, the more brain changes you get." i think a 3rd grader could have concluded that....i just came up with something too, the more cigarettes you smoke the worse it is for your lungs!

All the studies I've encountered that have monitored the brain and neurons in humans long-term after MDMA use to date have had similar findings- some suggest it takes 3 months for full recovery, others have found up to a year. I am sure severity and duration of use are a huge factor, along with age. The ultimate findings were that MDMA can have devastating effects for some time, but the issues all seem reversible with abstinence.

That said, the human body and brain is extremely complex, and we still only know a small portion of the information there is to learn about it. Scientists are finding out new things about the body every day- and MDA is a relatively new and unstudied drug compared to many. I am sure there are plenty of things yet to be discovered about it's effects short and long-term.

This article does not bring up anything new or conclusive. I would be open to seeing a study that shows proven evidence of long-term damage, but keep in mind studies are flawed. The famous study funded by the FDA in which a scientist used "mislabeled" methamphetamine to study the effects of MDMA drew all sorts of false conclusions that still get quoted to this day- I meet people weekly in clubs/raves who think "ecstasy puts holes in your brain/causes Parkinsons" etc. due to this false study that was done a whole decade ago.

Well I am not speaking of neurotoxicity when I say that this article is correct. I now have adapted to mdma and I know it has changed my brain. Will it cause problems, I don't know... I don't think or feel it will cause lasting damage. I am sure that the veteran trekkers know. I have rolled a decade myself. I feel fine. No solid debate here just how I feel as a veteran user.

This isn't really anything new. No one can really deny that with enough use, it can change your brain.

so dont be an etard and you wont have any problems most likely...
i dont get why idiots abuse the shit out of MDMA..
