I've always wanted to go to a rave ever since the first time i tried E.. The problem is I live in the middle of nowhere, and none of my friends are ravers.

I'm just curious as to how you found out about your first rave. :)
 
shit if i lived in the middle of nowere i would find a field and have my own rave and just tell every one about it
 
i had friends who knew about some parties. at the end of those parties, i got flyers for yet more parties.

the internet is obviously a great resource. i was on a local raver mailing list back in the 90s that kept me informed about upcoming events. record stores are also a good place to check out, as promoters tend to leave their flyers, posters, stickers, etc. anywhere DJs might shop.

have you considered flying (or driving) out to a big rave in a more exciting area? people travel for events all the time, and beyond just being an awesome weekend it might give you some ideas about how to bring a good party back to your home town :)
 
I dont want to hijack the thread, but is there a resource on rave protocol? i am in the same boat as the OP, only i live closer to big cities
 
You live in Scranton and can't find a party? There is shit poppin in Allentown sometimes. Philly. NYC. Get in the car and take a ride.

Dec. 12 - steez promo is doing something big in Pittsburgh. All ages I think. Might be 18+...

Shit, I'm in NC. I lived in small town KY - population 8k... for years. Still managed to find a party. Sometimes you have to take a ride. Grew up in Chicago though, so maybe I can sniff it out better...
 
ya i'm from pittsburgh and theres a lot goin on around here, maybe you could catch a bus or somethign out here with some friends? I dont know what I would tell my parents though unless they're cool with you goin to a rave in pittsburgh lol. Also find a place to stay overnight is gonna be tough, unless one of your friends is 18 you guys could grab a motel room?

I'll second/third/fourth what the others said about checkin out local record stores or little skate shops they usually have flyers for a lot of stuff.

And ya also a lot of the cool events are 18+ or 21+ so you'll have to check that. So glad i just turned 18 :)
