Rave Atmosphere versus...?

Wow, interesting thread. I feel like i am going to be criticized for my following post.

I personally enjoy the massives VS smaller venues.

I have been raving for 8 years now. I live in CA also, so I am spoiled in terms of the amount of raves/clubs/ concerts that are at my disposal. My first rave was Audiotistic in 02', originally went to see outkast but ended up getting stuck watching the Chemical brothers all night long in the arena. Had the best time ever and was in love right from the start.

lovefest hawaii was one of the smaller ones, maybe a few thousand people, and I still had a blast and great time and all; but for some reason I like having more people. For some reason just the sheer madness and chaos of so many people just gets me off for some reason.

I try to only roll when I go to massives, which is about ever 2 months now? I have been to many clubs also which were smaller and intimate, but I didn't really care for it as much as a massive. It was indoors, the music wasn't as loud, there seemed to be way more people just getting tanked and drunk everywhere = there was just drunk people everywhere and that annoys me.

I love massives because of the energy, the spirit of people, the sheer craziness of just a shit ton of people all raging it hard as fuck. I love how most massives I get to see my favorite artists from all over the world united in one spot all at the same time.

I guess I am the lone person who still loves going to massives, even after such a long time. I always have a good time and I love the energy that is brought to massives. I really just don't feel that clubs or smaller raves really do anything for me, it just seems smaller and less loud.

Same thing, I have rolled at kickbacks, small house parties and I personally find it a waste of a good roll. I mean it is cool hanging with your friends and all, but I love how at raves you can meet so many new people. Random strangers and complete weirdos sometimes yes. Sketchy people sometimes? Yes as well, but once you figure out how to navigate through the crowd and who to stay away from, massives are great.

I will not roll anymore unless it is a massive. Club, house, kickback is a waste of a roll. Nothing compares to a massive IMO. Massives have the craziest people, craziest music/DJ's, crazy ass lightshows and a plethora of nice people.

I am not trying to knock all small events and clubs etc but I personally find that raves, massives in particular are the best place to drop and roll and I just find myself enjoying my rolling when at raves when you have everything to the max going on around you.

So while many, if not most of you have said you prefer smaller events, I have to disagree completely. Massives are the best bang for your buck and hands down the only parties I find myself going to over my rave career.

A hot tub filled with friends your comfortable enough to lick and be licked by.

I kind of made this happen....

Yea, get like 6 people in a hot tub rubbing and massaging each other, bring up non sexual areas of the body that are fun to lick and see if a volunteer pops up, other people see them writhing in pleasure so they give it a shot and soon you have a bunch of friends licking each other and even going as far as sucking someone's toes and having my toes sucked on....

the raves around here are pretty good, cant fault them. especially the DnB/Dubstep etc

quite like house parties, that way you get to interact with your surroundings more, and choose your own music (big advantage to me)

a rave is mainly just repetitive music and people

free parties out in the countryside are way better I think :D then there is no danger of overheating or whatever and besides, compared to the more kinda commercialised raves there are no rules on drugs really so no need to worry about getting caught (which always gave me massive paranoia when I used to attend large raves frequently!).

Not a big fan of the rave scene myself, as I prefer rolling at home or outside if the temperature is suitable. A bonfire at the beach is probably my favorite setting even though I've only done that once due to the climate here combined with the fact I only roll every few months. As others have said, the ability to control your music is the best part of rolling at home (only if the system doesn't suck ass).

The main thing that puts me off from events is the cost. I'm not poor; I'm just a cheap bastard.
