Ok guys bear with me here. I would like to here your feedback on what you think of my idea/theory.

So last may i received a modified rapid detox which consisted of being abstinent from opiates for four days (During this time period i was given the standard Valium, clonidine, muscle relaxants and stuff for stomach cramps). The 5th day i went to see the doc. He gave me a shot of phenobarbital to make me kind of sleepy but still conscious. Then he gave me a small shot of nalaxone. This shot made me a little more dope sick but not really noticeable. 1 hour later he gave me another larger shot of nalaxone. I felt pretty dope sick after that shot. Finally 1 Hour later he gave me one final shot of nalaxone and i did not feel dope sick one bit. He then gave me a month long shot of Naltrexone (Don't confuse with nalaxone) I was tired the rest of the day but after that i felt completely normal no more physical withdrawals and no mental withdrawals (Depression and Anxiety).

Now heres my idea slash plan. I have come across some 50 mg Naltrexone pills (Not Nalaxone and not injectable just pills) Now i know that the doc used nalaxone as the reversing agent but i don't have that i have naltrexone 50 mg pills. Would i be able to wait a few days taking some benzos to take the edge off and taking some seroquil for some sleep then maybe the 2nd or third day start taking the naltrexone to act like a reversing agent and speed up my detox? I know it sounds ghetto but my logic is telling me it might work.

I would like to here feedback from you guys and maybe someone will tell me some info i don't know. And guys if your going to leave feedback please make sure the information you give is from a reliable source and make sure you know exactly what your talking about because im already hearing in the media about these rapid detoxes being dangerous as they are and i don't want switching nalaxone with naltrexone to kill me in any way (i dont think it would but you never know) So thanks for reading guys and please leave some good feedback thanks

I think that this "modified rapid detox" was pretty pointless. Why would you be given nalaxone shots after being abstinent from opiates for 4 days? The w.d's should have pretty much been over by then. I really don't see why this was done.

As for your plan, I have no experinece with that so no comment.

well it actually got rid of my mental withdrawels the most and those usually last two weeks or more for me. it was like i felt completely normal after only 5 days

yeah... this just sounds dangerous to me. your taking a cocktail of drugs to zone you out and then forcing yourself into a rapid detox. i would just ride it out man. its not so bad after the first few days anyway.

I don't understand why you would want to do this? Or am I missing something, So your telling me, you detoxed for four days THEN had this "rapid detox "? That in itself doesn't make much sense. Unless your on some long acting opiate/opioid ( methadone) then all of that was kind of necessary. But now you want to take benzos and pump yourself full of naltrexone? Why? You also have a months supply of naltrexone in you? Please explain

Ohhhh. Are you saying that you started using again, and you want to detox yourself at home with naltrexone and benzos? That's an equally horrible idea and your going to be in a world of pain.

Yeah if this is the case, don't even try it yourself. See a doctor and do some other detox plan.

kk sounds good. To put things straight i basically went through the worst of the physical withdrawels. but you know how you just dont feel right for the next month after kicking heroin? well i felt completely normal after he gave me all that nalaxone

it was like my body was completely normal again. i had no more anxiety depression restlessness my sleep schedule was perfect again. everything was normal it was weird

I don't really see the point in this.......after 4-5 days pretty much all of the opiates are out of your system, meaning that their is nothing for the naltrexone to remove from your receptors........are you thinking that this may lower your tolerance? Cause that only comes with time, as your number of opiate receptors reduce with time. Naltrexone also blocks endorphins (endogenous opioid peptides), so I would think that prolonged use of naltrexone would make you feel even more depressed.

Yeah, that's what first came to mind. Unless the OP was on an opiate with a very long half-life, I don't think the antagonists should have made the wd worse. :?

i actually did the whole rapid detox thing under sedation it was the biggest waste of $15,000.The naltraxone thing is weird cuz the doc also told me that if i take it that it will help my opiate receptors heal faster. At the same time tho how is that possible if the naltrexone blocks opiate receptors that they would heal quicker. For me it made me depressed and made me feel like shit i took 50mg evrey morning for 2 months.I couldnt understand why after 2 months i still felt like shit so i stoped taking the pills and i felt better but then i relapsed. So the point is that the naltraxone is really ment for just keeping people from using drugs.Cuz u cant get high once u take that pill in the morning no matter how hard u try basically u will od if u try to get high while u take 50mg.But hey if it works for you then go for it just make sure u hav atleast 48-72 hours of no opiates b4 u take it orelse u will go into full blown percipitated w/d.

^to sum it up, the more you use opioids the more opioid receptors your brain creates so when you cut off the ability for anything to get to the opioid receptors, the excess ones die off later on (presumably when off naltrexone) so when you use opioids later on, or release endorphins they are much more effective.

ya i know that what i dont understand is if all your receptors wer blocked wouldnt that mean that even the natural endorphines that your body produces would also be blocked?which in return would make you a very depressed and lazy person?

Correct. Many people feel depressed when taking naltrexone due to this.

^that seems to be the consensus among people who have tried naltrexone implants or daily oral treatments around here.

I think the advantage of naltrexone lies far more in the length it blocks opioids than to actually help with craving and in fact, I think the depression that often results helps lead people to drastic measures like cutting out the implants so they can choose to relapse.

To me, naltrexone treatment seems a little draconian when we have other options like maintenance to help relapse prevention.
